AEC Guwahati Overview

AEC Guwahati Admission 2023: Aspiring candidates should know that the Assam CEE counselling 2023 seat allotment result for all rounds has been released. 

Assam Engineering College, the first engineering college in the north-east India, was established in the year 1955. It is situated at Jalukbari in the south-west part of Guwahati, which is a landmark in the colourful and chequered history of Assam. Encircled by the Gauhati University on the north, the Deepor Beel on the south, the Government Ayurvedic College on the east and the Assam Police Radio Organisation on the west, Assam Engineering College not only provides an ideal context for learning but also creates a charming impingement on visitors. The campus is spread across 400 acres of land. The college started with the Civil Engineering department, and within a few years other engineering departments were started.

Presently, it awards Bachelor in Engineering degrees in eight different engineering disciplines, Master in Engineering degrees in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and Master in Computer Application degree. The college offers PhD programs under all departments. All the courses of AEC are affiliated to Gauhati University.

  • Runner up with best player in “All Guwahati Inter College Volleyball Competition” organised by Veterinary College, Guwahati.(2003)

  • Champion in “K.K Handique memorial, All Assam Inter College Volleyball Competition”, held at G.U.

  • College team participated in All India- Inter Technical Colleges Basketball Competition held at Kanpur IIT and clinched 2nd runner up title.

2000-2001

  • Siddarth Kakati, Protyush Borgohain, Mintoo Kakati and Eebon Datta won national awards in the Open Hardware Contests in Techniche, the technofest of IIT Ghy for 2 years in succession.

1999-2000

  • Pankaj Goswami and Nutan Roy captured the 1st prize in science model competition( all india basis ) in Swadeshi Viggan mela in IIT, Delhi (2-6 Feb, 2000) organised by ABVP.

  • Ranganav Kumar Barooah excels in the pyrotechnics of walls. The fire of his words made him the best debator in college in ’96,’97,’98&’99 and the best debator in ALL ASSAM INTER COLLEGE PRIZE MONEY DEBATING COMPETITION.

  • Imon Kalyan Buragohain, Arnab Lahkar Barkakati, Amrit Sarma won the second the Best Quiz Team in youth festival, Gauhati University.

1993-1994

  • Deepraj Das went on to win the cadet award in National Cadet Award in National Rock climbing and Tracking camp organised by NCC

  • The Quizzers of AEC Sujit Goswami, Rakesh Das and Niladri Bora who not only clicked in AEC but also got recognition as one of the best team in Assam.

  • The man with thousand expression, Gautam Sakia represented AEC in Youth festival 1994 Mime competition.

  • His cricketing class gave him both in the Ranji team of Assam. Meet this disting wished allrounder from AEC,Surajit Buragohain.

1992-1993

  • The pride AEC Surajit Buragohain (wicketkeeper batsman) and Bhaskar Bora (all rounder) the two star cricketers represented G.U in the East Zone Inter university cricket tournament held at Benaras Hindu University.

1994-1995

  • Sushanta Biswa Sharma represented the state in the various tournament starting from C.K.Naidu trophy to V.M. trophy to C.B.trophy more than once.

  • Bidyut Das, silver medallist in Elocution competition in Inter college Youth Festival organised by G.U.He has also obtained the NCC ‘C’ certificate with ‘A’ grading with DDG’S commendation

  • Amlan Borgohain was hounared as best Debator in NE Inter college/university Debating competition organised by the college of Veterinary Science, Khanapara.

  • The Author cum video film Producer Ranjit Dutta is awarded by the Directorate of language Implementation, Govt. Of Assam , for his short story “Opekhya”.

  • Harjinder Singh and Abhijit Kalita, participated in Chemical Engg Debate & Quiz competition in Jadavpur University and bagged second prize in debate and were adjudged overall second.

  • Benjamin Kaman was awarded the certificate of Merit in all Assam Salon of Photography conducted by AP in 1996

  • Ismail Hussain was awarded the prestigious Ambikagiri Rai choudhury Award of Axom Xatiya Xabha for the year 1995-96 for his collection of poems “Jiban Aru Manuh Bixoyok”.

  • Rajjyoti Dutta Phukan participated in “All India Aeromodelling competition” organised by the society of Model Aeronautical Engineers of india limited and his model of ‘Hawk 60’ an advanced jet trainer, built with the help from British Aerospace Division, London was adjudged the Best Model.

1997-1998

  • Ismail Hussain, awarded the prestigious college Ribbon for his Proficiency in Literature, on recommendation of the Award Committee of AEC, 1996-97.

  • Prizes won at ‘Alcheringa 1998’ on feb 8,9th 1998.

  • 1st prize of a paper in the SMART paper sponsored “Turncoat” event.

  • Mr. Sanjeev Kumar Hazarika , winner of 1st , 2nd, and 1st prize in All Assam Dr. Kandarpa Kr. Kakati Science debating competition for years 80-81, 81-82, 82-83 respectively.

  • Miss. Minakshi Kakati, winner of 1st prize in recitation competition held by A.G.S.U.

  • Miss. Rumi Das, best singer of our college for the year 1982-83. Gold medallist in Ghazal and siver medallist in Assamese modern song in G.U Youth festival.

  • Mr. Haseen Ahmed, gold medallist in English Recitation Competition in the G.U youth festival 1982-83.

  • Mr. Arup Kr. Bhagawati and Mr. Bishnu Prasanna Gogoi- our college debating group winning 1st prize in North Eastern region Inter College Manik Ch. Baruah memorial debating competition and 1st prize in All Assam Inter College Bholanath Boruah memorial debating competition in 1983.

  • A.E.C Quiz Group: Mr. P. Kr. Saikia, Md S. Ahmed Choudhury, Mr. B.P. Gogoi , Mr. T. Konger won gold medal in G.U youth festival 1982.

  • A.E.C quiz goup: Mr. A. Hussain, Mr. S. Bezboruah , Mr. A. Kr. Mishra and Mr. L.P. Gogoi won bronze medal in 5th A.I.I.E.C.M at REC Warangal (A.P).

  • Md. S. Ahmed Choudhury won 2nd prize in Bhola Boruah debating Competition, 1982.

  • Benu Madhab Saikia bagged the 1st prize in the “All Assam Nabin Lekhak Lekhika Short story Competition” organised by “Pratishruti”.

Overall: overall experience of mine in the institute is nice because teachers are very helpful hostel facility is given which is average in nature and infrastructure of this institute is well maintained and yes i have got some good friends

Placement: if I talk about placement given from this college, please meet opportunities are less as compare to the number of students studying here , only few companies visits here to take students

Infrastructure: if I talk about overall infrastructure of this institute I can say that infrastructure is average, huge ground for sports is there and also there is space for cultural activities and the campus is also built very good

Faculty: one of the best part of this institute is they have the best faculty there well knowledgeable well qualified teachers who not only motivate you but also supports you in each and every step of the your college life

Hostel: hostel facility of this college is quite simple and nice food served here are good quality cleanliness is maintained here hygiene is also maintain here and also washrooms are cleaned in every 3 days
