NIT Meghalaya - Admission 2024, Fees, Courses, Placement, Ranking

NIT Meghalaya has opened the admission process for the academic session 2024-25. The JEE Main registration is ongoing till March 2 and the exam will be held between April 4 to 15. Students qualifying the JEE Main exam will be eligible for BTech admission in NIT Meghalaya. Further, GATE 2024 will be conducted on February 3, February 4, February 10, and February 11, 2024, for MTech admission and JAM 2024 is scheduled for February 11, 2024, for MSc admission at the institute. 

NIT Meghalaya or National Institute of Technology Meghalaya, is one of the pioneer institutes of our country to impart knowledge in various fields of Information and Technology. Established in 2010, the NIT Meghalaya is one of the 31 NITs in India to have been declared Institutes of Importance under the NIT Act 2007 of the Parliament of India. The institute has since been functioning from its old campus in Shillong, with total funding support from the Ministry of Education, Government of India. NIT Meghalaya is ranked 72 in the NIRF rankings 2023 with a score of 47.27. 

NIT Meghalaya aims at imparting quality education to bright students in the fields of Science, Engineering and Technology in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The institute currently offers B.Tech/BE programmes in five specialisations- Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering; M.Tech/ME in five specialisations same as B.Tech, M.Sc in three subjects-Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and doctoral degree in various streams of Science, Engineering and Humanities. The B.Tech/BE programme is for 4 years, M.Tech/M.E is for 2 years, MSc for 2 years, and PhD for 5 years.

NIT Meghalaya cutoff 2023: JoSAA opening and closing rank has been released for round 1 to 5. Candidates who qualify for the IIT Meghalaya cut off 2023 for JEE Main will be eligible for B.Tech admissions at the institute. • Merit scholarships are also given to B.Tech students where a scholarship of 40% of the tuition fee is awarded to the top 5 % of the students based on the CGPA obtained in the last semester
• A merit-cum-means scholarship is given to a B. Tech student who belongs to the non-creamy layer and obtains a CGPA of 7.0 or above, and their parent's income is not more than 4.5 lakhs per annum. A scholarship of 40% of the tuition fee is awarded to the top 5 % of the students.

The campus life is good. Apart from the academic curriculum, students can participate in various events organized by the different clubs. The college also conducts several sports events. The institute organizes workshops where students can participate and learn new technologies to enhance their skills. A good gender ratio is maintained in college admissions. However, the students face a bit of constraint because of the temporary campus.

The infrastructure at the National Institute of Technology, Meghalaya, is good. The NIT Meghalaya is built on 300 acres of land. The place is pollution-free and green, with many on-campus facilities. The classrooms are good, and the labs are well equipped with all the necessary equipment. The hostels are good with good quality food. The hall also has 30 computers with client servers to help conduct online tests and video conferencing with industrial people for pre-placement talks so that the students can better understand the actual situations.

The NIT Meghalaya campus has an extensive library with over 13,000 books in various disciplines of Arts, Science, Humanities, Engineering, and Technology.
