IIMs (Indian Institutes of Management) have initiated the process for revamping the existing curriculum and pedagogy of PGP course. The premier management institutes are planning to implement the revamped PGP course for the batch of 2019-21. The revamped PGP course will make students more industry-relevant. Students who secure admission in PGP 2019-21 batch can expect more interactive teaching sessions and outbound activities. Addition of more role-plays, live projects, and implementation of experiential learning will make students more industry relevant. Apart from faculty members, industry officials and representatives will interact with students.

The revamped PGP course of IIMs shall have courses on latest and emerging technologies such as machine learning and artificial intelligence. The industry requirements can be met on a full scale through these new topics, explained a faculty member.

IIM Calcutta has started revamping its two-year PGP curriculum. The premier institute is aiming to bridge the gap between students with and without work experience. Every year, at least half of the students join IIM Calcutta with little or no work experience. Students with no experience often face difficulty in understanding management concepts. In order to avoid such difficulty, IIM Calcutta will organise a 15-hour workshop on ‘An Introduction to Management’ during the orientation session of new PGP batch (2019-21).

The interactive workshop to be hosted by IIM Calcutta shall enable free-flow conversation between 2-4 faculty members. The interactive session will be based on student intervention with faculty members. IIM Calcutta is also planning to invite senior executives from the industry to conduct interactive sessions with students. Such interactive sessions will expose students to the corporate world.

IIM Indore, which is also revamping its PGP curriculum, is planning to focus more on participant-centric learning process through simulation and live cases. As of now, IIM Indore shall focus on stabilizing the existing courses and there is no plan to introduce any new course for the upcoming academic session.

At IIM Calcutta, live projects are most popular among one-year PGPEX participants. More than half of the executives of the PGPEX programme are involved in live projects. These live projects will help students gain hands-on experience on subjects.

For the upcoming year, IIM Kozhikode is aiming for international accreditations. As of now, the institute is revamping its pedagogy with an aim to make learning application-driven.

As far as IIM Ahmedabad and IIM Bangalore are concerned, course revamp is a gradual process. These institutes shall majorly focus on changes that were introduced in the last two years.
