JNTU Hyderabad Introduces Online Courses

JNTU-Hyderabad has launched a list of professional and open elective Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Students pursuing third-year B.Tech (second semester) can choose one open elective/ professional course from the list of MOOCs.

JNTU Hyderabad Introduces Online Courses

In order to offer a wide range of subjects to engineering students, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) Hyderabad has introduced MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) in all its affiliated and constituent colleges from the ongoing academic session. The varsity will introduce these MOOCs on SWAYAM platform.

JNTU-Hyderabad has announced that students pursuing third-year B.Tech (second semester) can choose one open elective/ professional course from the list of MOOCs. The Board of Studies of JNTU-H has approved a list of courses, and the same has been forwarded to all constituent and affiliated colleges.

JNTU-H has divided the courses into two categories –

  • Professional Electives
  • Open Electives

The professional elective courses are meant for students of the department concerned whereas open electives can be chosen by engineering students of any stream.

Among the list of online courses finalised by JNTU-H, some of the major online courses are –

  • Electronic Compatibility and Non-Linear Adaptive Control (Professional Elective)
  • Math Lab Programming for Numerical Computation (Open Elective)

Similarly, the varsity has come up with a wide range of courses in open and professional electives. The varsity has informed all the colleges that the MOOCs should be implemented from the ongoing academic session i.e., 2018-19.

JNTU-Hyderabad Academic Director revealed that the varsity is implementing MOOCs for the first time. The decision was taken to comply with the norms of UGC and AICTE.

Interested students can register for MOOCs through the official website of the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL). The coursework will commence from January 28, 2019. Students who opt for MOOCs must clear the course and get NPTEL online certificate. The students should also acquire a required number of credits for the award of the degree.
