Wuhan University is one of the oldest Universities of China that was founded in 1893 by Zhang Zhidong. It is one of the earliest comprehensive national universities in modern China. The institute was renamed several times in the early 90’s. In 1928, it was named as Wuhan National University and by the end of 1946, the university established 6 colleges of various disciplines namely liberal art, law, sciences, engineering, agriculture and medicine. The University is under the administration of the Ministry of Education. It is also one of the Universities which is in the list of ‘211 projects’ and ‘985 projects’ of China. The University is situated in  Wuhan city, Hubei province of China. The campus of Wuhan University expands over an area of 5195 mu. It is honored as the most beautiful University of China because of its unique architecture and infrastructure. The university offers 123 undergraduate majors programmes. 57 first-level disciplines grants master's degrees and 46 first-level disciplines grant doctoral degrees at the University. The school is awarded 69 national natural science awards, national invention awards, and national scientific and technological progress awards.
