History, Affiliations & Rankings

Radboud University was founded in 1923 as Catholic University Nijmegen and was later renamed Radboud University in 2004. It is a public catholic university located in Nijmegen, the Netherlands. Radboud University is one of the top-ranked universities in the world and holds several awards and recognition in the field of research. The QS World University Rankings 2021 of Radboud University is 214. Few alumni members of Radboud University have been honoured with a Nobel Prize in Physics and Spinoza Prize (Also known as the Dutch Nobel Prize). Further, Radboud University has been recognised by THE and QS Rankings in their respective world university rankings, where the University has held ranks within the first 200 universities in the world.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Radboud University campus is known as the Heyendaal campus and is surrounded by lush green trees, grass, plants and parks that add to the beauty of the campus. It roughly expands across an area of 100 hectare and houses compact buildings and underground car parks. Currently, Radboud University offers 38 bachelor’s degree programmes and 57 Master’s degree programmes and 8 research master's programmes and 4 post-initial master's programmes. Radboud University offers undergraduate and postgraduate education in disciplines such as in Sciences, Arts, Culture and History, Business and Economics, Behavioural and Social Sciences, Law, Medical Sciences, Political Sciences, and many more. The sustainable Maria Montessori building of Radboud University is one of the newest buildings to be constructed on the campus to meet the modern infrastructure needs while ensuing energy conservation for sustainability.

Accomplishments & Alumni 

Radboud University was awarded the Master's programmes Top Programme status for nine of its Master’s degree programmes by The Keuzegids Masters 2019. Six programmes were recognised as the best course in their respective fields. The research work at Radboud University is rigorous and is recognised worldwide. In 2010, Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov received the Nobel Prize for Physics for research into the properties of graphene and both of them are closely associated with Radboud University. So far, around 13 scientists from  Radboud University have won the ‘Dutch Nobel Prize’ (Spinoza Prize) for their research and innovative work. Apart from this, several other renowned awards and recognitions in the name of Radboud University and members are associated with the university. The National Student Survey revealed that the Students rated the university an average score of 8.0 out of 10 and the respective programmes a 7.7 out of 10 in terms of Student Satisfaction.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
Radboud University has over 24,000 students who are enrolled in both Bachelor’s and Master’s courses among which 10% are international students. COVID-19 Response

In view of the pandemic and the necessary precautions that need to be taken, Radboud University has taken the necessary COVID-19 Response. From strict social distancing learning to hybrid models of learning, Radboud University is dedicated to ensuring the health and safety of the students, staff and faculty.

  • The Dutch government has allowed higher education institutions to offer one day of on-campus education per week from March 29. As per the guidelines, Radboud University is making all the necessary efforts to start on-campus education with utmost care and safety. 

  • Safety guidelines like wearing a mask, social distancing and personal hygiene are mandatory for everyone to be followed on the campus. 

  • Radboud University aims to restart fully on-campus classes from September and any decision taken will be communicated to students and staff. 

  • Radboud University is regularly interacting with its students through online counselling to understand their needs and also generate the satisfaction level of students at the times when most classes are held remotely. Various measures and support are being provided by the university to ensure the safety and well being of all students.

Radboud Scholarship Programme 2021

Radboud Scholarship Programme is a scholarship programme available for non-EEA students who are enrolled in Master’s degree programmes at  Radboud University. It is a selective scholarship and awarded to exceptional candidates only. Every year, 12 full scholarships and 25 partial scholarships are awarded under the Radboud Scholarship Programme.

Value of Full Scholarship: Full scholarship covers €16,000 in tuition fee and  €10,800 in living cost. 

Value of Partial Scholarship: Partial Scholarship covers € 2,168 in tuition fee

Eligibility Criteria:

The minimum eligibility criteria for a candidate to be considered for the Radboud Scholarship Programme is as follows:

  • Must be a non-EU or EEA candidate. 

  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree from a country other than the Netherlands. 

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time Master's degree programme at Radboud University. 

  • Must meet the English language requirements for the Master's programme. 

  • Must have an acceptance letter from Radboud University for the September 2021 Intake. 

  • Must have the visa for the Netherlands

Selection Criteria:

Candidates who have a strong academic background, are highly motivated, ambitious and talented will be considered for the Radboud Scholarship Programme.

Motivation letters for the Master's programme and the quality of the recommendations in the reference letters submitted with the application are important references for the scholarship.

Application Process

Applicants can indicate their wish to apply for the Radboud Scholarship Programme while filling the application for the Master's programme through OSIRIS Application System. The university directly contacts the applicant in case they are eligible for the scholarship. 

Important Date 2021: Candidates must complete the online application through the OSIRIS Application portal before March 1.

The results of the scholarship will be released by mid-April.
