Established in 1876, the Belgorod State University (BelSU) is a public and one of the oldest universities in Belgorod, Russia with 140 years of history. It is also one of the 29 leading universities in the Russian Federation holding the status of a National Research university since 2010. BelSU is ranked within the top 151-200 in the QS University Rankings: BRICS and QS University Rankings: Top universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia. According to the RA Expert Ranking, the university stands at 59th position among the top 100 Best Universities of Russia and 37th among the best universities in the "Economics and management" sphere. BelSU, a popular university to study MBBS was also named among the top 20 leading universities in the country by the number of foreign students in 2015. With a history of over 20 years, the Institute of Medicine of BelSU offers MBBS which is officially recognized by both NMC and WHO.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

BelSU is located on two sites comprising a total of nine institutes, two colleges, seven student dormitories and one branch. It also includes 24 core sub-departments of 105 sub-departments, two officially registered science schools, 5 research centers and laboratories and two common use centers for high-tech scientific equipment. The four faculties at BelSU are dedicated to offer degrees in a range of disciplines including medicine, economics, management, nano- and biotechnologies, foreign languages, ecology and mining, journalism, computer and natural sciences, and more. Overall, the university offers 180+ specialties for Specialists, Bachelors and Masters and over 300 additional advanced training programs. The Medical Institute of BelSU comprises 24 departments, 16 of which are located on the basis of leading medical and preventive treatment facilities. 

Accomplishments & Alumni

BelSU boasts of graduating over 5,000 students annually, with about 400 specialists with high university degrees and 500 medical attendants. The university is among the best MBBS universities because of its major scientific and educational structure, developed infrastructure and emphasis on training based on the priorities of the national and regional healthcare system. In 2009, the university became the foundation university of the University of Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Nanotechnology. It prides itself on more than 300 researchers and teachers working at the BelSu’s Institute of Medicine, 70% of which hold an academic degree and 18% of which have a degree of Doctor of Science. 

Student Diversity & Employment Opportunities

Every year, the Belgorod State University hosts more than 2,800 international students from 91 countries and over 23,000 students from all regions of Russia. It also offers one-term exchange programs with partner universities in the countries of Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, China, Bulgaria, France, Serbia, and Kazakhstan. BelSu’s Institute of Medicine lets students carry out their practical training in 22 healthcare organisations as well as pharmaceutical institutions. It further launched a special Simulation Centre in 2016, primarily to maintain and develop practical training and produce leading healthcare professionals. In addition, students are also given internship opportunities with more than 600 enterprises.
