The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (undergraduate; NEET-UG) 2022 was recorded as one of the highest attendances in five years with 17.64 lakh test-takers. This does make you wonder if you could measure up to your expectation of getting into one of India’s top medical universities.

Well, you are not alone! Among those over 18 lakh aspirants in NEET 2022, lakhs would certainly be doubtful of their future in the field of medicine. While many might think studying MBBS abroad would come with its own set of difficulties, it is rather easier with several international MBBS universities offering affordable education, flexible admissions based on lower NEET results and great exposure.

As per experts, this year, the NEET cut-off for Indian universities will go higher, making MBBS admissions even more competitive. Also, given that your NEET scores remain valid only for three years, applying for MBBS universities abroad is only the smarter way to move ahead.

With the uncertain nature of MBBS admissions, many international universities may soon close their application windows for the 2022-23 academic year, so get in touch with our admission professionals to reserve your seat.

Is NEET Mandatory to Study MBBS Abroad?

Yes, NEET-UG is mandatory for Indian aspirants willing to study MBBS abroad. According to the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) notification in 2018, all Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India intending to study MBBS degree at a medical institution abroad will have to mandatorily qualify for the NEET and submit NEET results.

A candidate’s NEET scores should be treated as the eligibility certificate for admission to an MBBS course abroad provided the student fulfils the eligibility criteria prescribed in the Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997.

The NEET results shall be held valid for a period of three years from the date of declaration of result, letting a student pursue MBBS or equivalent medical course including a pre-medical/language course, followed by MBBS or equivalent medical course.

NEET for MBBS in India vs NEET for MBBS Abroad

In India, your rank in NEET plays a crucial role in MBBS admissions. On the other hand, when it comes to MBBS admissions abroad, you only need to qualify for the NEET UG and that is it. MBBS universities abroad do not look at your NEET rank to offer admission and you only have to fulfil their minimum NEET marks requirement

Among other factors that determine admission to an MBBS program abroad, you would have to be between the age of 17 and 25 years and you must hold 50% or above marks in the 12th board exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as the main subjects in intermediate board exams.
