Free Vaccination and Focus on Health & Safety of International Students
All UK universities are abiding by the latest scientific advice and guidelines in accordance with COVID-19 outbreak.
69% of the UK population have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to The Guardian.
The National Health Service (NHS) England has announced that all international students aged 18 or over will get free access to COVID-19 vaccinations. The service will be provided through local GPs, vaccination centres, community pharmacies, hospitals and temporary pop-up clinics.
In case a student has received a first dose of a vaccine overseas that is also available in the UK, they can get the same vaccine for their second dose.
UK universities have implemented various services such as food packahes, support through self-isolation periods, mental health support and additional technology to enable online learning.
From August 2, 2021, those fully vaccinated in the US or the EU and coming into England from an amber list country, except for France, will not have to quarantine on arrival (does not apply to Wales, Northern Ireland or Scotland.
Every person must also take one or more Covid tests after they arrive in the UK.
Most people are subject to self-isolation rules after arrival in the UK. However, those who are subject to greeen requirements may not have to quarantine.
An All-New Graduate Route
The Graduate Immigration Route aims at providing an opportunity to international students who have received their degree at undergraduate level or above at a valid Higher Education Provider, and who have a valid Tier 4 or Student visa at the time of application. Applications for the Graduate Route were opened on July 1, 2021.
It is an unsponsored route which will let international students to stay in the UK and work at any skill level for two years, or three years for students at doctoral level.
One does not need a job offer to apply for the route.
They can work flexibly, switch jobs and develop their career in the UK.
Under the graduate route, one can also take up extra study although not with a student sponsor on a course which meets the requirements of a Student Visa.
Student Visa Extensions/Flexible Processes
The UK government has announced that all the UK universities applicants will receive their Tier 4 visas before the commencement of their studies/programme. They will be able to continue or start their visa application process despite the changes caused by the pandemic and lockdowns.
Those who are from a country on the UK's 'red list' and have a UK student visa (or Tier 4 visa) or have been issued EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) leave, can travel to the UK, since they have residence rights in the UK. However, some measures you will still apply such as self-isolating in a government-approved hotel for 10 days, taking a COVID-19 test and more.
UK universities have extended remote learning concessions until April 6, 2022. This will allow international students to begin studying remotely without having to comprise future work rights.
Further, the government of the UK has confirmed that it will let student visa sponsors adopt a belended learning approach for students who are studying in the UK until April 6, 2022.
From September 27, 2021 onwards, sponspors will be required to provide some in-person learing for studdents who are in the UK.
Students who began studying a course of 12 months or less in 2020 or this year remotely and who have not entered the country to study the course, can apply for the new UK Graduate Route if they apply for a visa successfully and arrive in the UK before September 27, 2021 or before their visa expires.
Students sponsored for a course longer than 12 months and who have pursued the course remotely between January 24, 2020 and April 6, 2022, will not be stopped from applying for the Graduate Route.
