GMAT Syllabus 2022

The GMAT 2022 syllabus comprises four sections, which are quite similar to that of any other management entrance examinations. Each section has its essential elements that candidates must understand before they start preparing for the GMAT examination. These elements showcase the pointers that help in a better understanding of the subject matter and also help candidates to score more. The different sections and pointers related to them are given below:

• Analytical Writing Assessment: The section requires a candidate to write an essay in English on one of the given topics within 30 minutes. As part of this writing task, candidates have to do an analysis of the reason behind a given argument and provide a critique of that argument. Candidates are assessed based on their ability to think critically and how well they communicate their thoughts in an essay format.

• Integrated Reasoning Section: The questions in this section are mainly focused on testing candidates' ability to comprehend and evaluate the provided data. The sub-sections of Integrated Reasoning include Two-Part Analysis, Graphics Interpretation, Multi-Source Reasoning and Table Analysis. All the four sub-sections sums up 12 easy and tricky questions of IR.

• Quantitative Section: The section, which comprises of sub-sections like Problem Solving and Data Sufficiency, is a subject-matter that focuses on the mathematical understanding of the candidates. The 31 questions in this section must be solved within 62 minutes. The topics covered under these two sub-sections are Arithmetic, Elementary Algebra and Geometry.

• Verbal Section: This section is meant to understand the candidates’ comprehension and command over the English language. The grammatical understanding and reasoning skills are tested in each question of this section. A total of 36 questions are to be answered in 65 minutes for this section of GMAT paper. The sub-sections include Sentence Correction, Rhetorical construction of Sentences, Parallelism, Synonyms-Antonyms, Critical Reasoning Reading Unseen Passages, Idioms and Subject-Verb Agreement.

In this section, GMAC assesses the verbal ability skills of the candidate. Questions are mostly based on Reading, Sentence Correction, Critical Reasoning, and Comprehension. Listed below are some of the topics that you are likely to see in the GMAT Verbal Reasoning section:

GMAT Quantitative Reasoning Syllabus

This section measures candidates’ ability to reason, analyse the data and draw conclusions from the same. Candidates' basic mathematical skills are also tested in this section. Data Sufficiency and Problem-Solving questions are asked in this particular section.

GMAT Analytical Writing Assessment Syllabus

In this section, candidates will be evaluated on the basis of their ability to think logically, yet critically. Candidates are required to analyse the reason behind a given argument and then provide a critique in a written format using relevant examples.

GMAT Integrated Reasoning Syllabus

This section tests the analytical, verbal and logical skills of the candidates at the same time. The questions asked will comprise daily, true-to-life problems. The candidates will have to analyze the problem and provide logical solutions to the problem. The time given for this section is 30 minutes. Four types of questions are asked in this section:

• Table Analysis: As the name suggests, you will be presented with a table with information that can be sorted. Your duty is to distinguish between useful and non-useful information.

• Graphics Interpretation: A chart or graph will be presented in the form of a question. Your duty is to interpret the graphical information provided and use that information to solve the questions provided subsequently.

• Multi-Source Reasoning: Here, there will be multiple tabs with information or inputs relevant to the questions given. The questions here will be of the same nature as Critical Reasoning.

• Two-Part Analysis: The question type will include two questions that relate to the same information. Here, you will receive 5-6 answer choices for the questions and your duty is to select the right option. It should be noted, the answers to the questions can be the same or different.
