Understanding the need of the hour and the difficulties faced by international students travelling to countries for higher education, the Baptist Studen Union from the University of Southern Mississippis Hattiesburg campus is asking neighbours and students to offer help to the incoming international students.
The Baptist Student Union (BSU) has requested donations, which can include furniture and many more household items which will further be distributed to freshmen international students as they move into their accommodations around 31st July 2021.

In its request, BSU requested that those interested in donating items, do so with items that are either new or gently used. Some of the items that BSU has requested include:

Basic Groceries and Ready-to-Eat food items

Basic Toiletries such as Soaps, Shampoos, etc.

Paper Towels and Toilet Paper.

Bath and Kitchen Towels

Shower Curtains

Blankets or Comforters
-
Laundry Detergents
-
Pillows
-
Twin Size Bedsheets (XL)

Vinyl Mattress Protectors
-
Notebooks, Pens and other stationaries

Water Filter
-
Mops, Brooms, etc
-
Trash Bags
-

New or gently used items can include:

Cooking Utensils such as Pots, Pans, etc.

Kitchen Knives

Cutlery Sets, such as spoons, knives and forks

Small Trash Cans

Furniture such as small dining tables, chairs and bed frames, etc.

As per the BSU notification, interested parties can submit their donations at BSU, located at 3100 Montague Blvd., Hattiesburg Campus, University of Southern Mississippi, between 9 a.m. and 4.30 p.m, during the weekdays.
With BSU reaching out to the community to help out their fellow international students, the union aims to build a more heartwarming environment for the international students who are leaving their families in the middle of a pandemic.
