Statistics Canada's report on vacancies in Canada reveals that in June, the ratio of unemployed to vacancies reached an all-time low of 1.0. This means that there was only one unemployed person for every vacancy.

In June 2021, the official unemployment-to-job vacancy ratio for the entire country of Canada was 1.9, almost twice as high as it is today. This fact is consistent with the report's most important finding, which is that Canada's unemployment rate is continuing to decline nationwide even while job openings are increasing nationwide.

The Canadian government will look to immigration as one way to increase the country's workforce in order to address this issue. With this, Canada plans to extend invitations to its highest-ever amount of potential permanent residents between 2022 to 2024. It includes targets ranging from 430,000 to more than 450,000 per year.
