According to American Senator Sherrod Brown, Case Western Reserve University in Ohio has received a grant of almost USD 78,000 to create a virtual platform for research developing joint India-US proposals.
Thisvirtual platform, developed by Case Western Reserve Universitywith support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), willpromote partnerships in cutting-edge sectors
A media release stated that it will also assist in boosting research and innovation, the evolution of frontiers of science, and building up engagement between the two largest democracies (the US and India).

Brown said that research in science and technologyis critical to creating jobs and improving the economy. Thus, they aim to unleash more American innovation which is possible only when every Ohio talent can participate and be nurtured.
The US senator has cosponsored the Supporting Early Career Researchers Act, calling NSF to launch a two-year pilot programme to assist highly qualified early-career investigators at higher education research institutes with adequate funds. This will also help in reducing research talent loss caused by job market disruption due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Brown further stated that Case Western Reserve University is "one of Ohios premier universities". Awards like this will help Ohiouniversities pursue advancement in knowledge and continue Ohios leadership in innovation.

TheSupporting Early Career Researchers Act aims to"forestall the loss of research talent by establishing a temporary early career research fellowship program." The Act would also authorise USD 250 million for the National Science Foundation for financial years 2021 and 2022.
The bipartisan legislation is looking forward to developing a new postdoctoral fellowship programme at the National Science Foundation. This will aid early career researchers whose employment opportunities were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, especiallyin the STEM pipeline.
The National Science Foundation supports research and education in all the non-medical fields of science and engineering.
