Indian students in the UK face tough times as India is still on the UK's 'Red List'. Students are very indecisive about their visits to India during the summer holidays. Know the challenges faced by students here:

Tough Times for Indian Students in the UK as India Remains on the 'Red List'

The ongoing semesters at UKs higher education institutions are about to come to an end. Students can now plan for summer breaks - which means they can either choose to stay in the UK or return to their hometown.

However, the semester holiday this year is not easy for Indian students studying in the UK. The reason being India in the red list of the UK. Here is the list of challenges that Indian students are facing while they plan their summer holidays:

  • While leaving the UK, students will have to take a PCR test that costs around 100 pounds.

  • On arrival in India, they will have to take another test.

  • On the way back to London after the holidays, students will have to stay in quarantine for 10 days for 1750 pounds.

Indian students have been very indecisive, considering the above factors. Many students do not wish to visit India as they need to rejoin on-campus classes in September. Any delay due to travel, quarantine, or testing may let them miss out on the classes for the upcoming semester.

Andy Howells, the Assistant Director, External Affairs, at Universities UK International said that the UK universities are doing all they can to help support international students. He suggested students reach out to their respective universities for any assistance. However, all decisions taken shall abide by the UK governments guidelines throughout the pandemic, he added.
