MBBS students from India enrolled in Chinese universities stuck in their home countries for the past 20 months due to travel restrictions are now worried about their belongings amid videos of luggage dumped outside hostels doing the rounds.
While it has almost been around two years, students have been left in a quandary not just about their student experience but also about their belongings left behind in hostels amid the pandemic.

Indian students enrolled in Chinese medical universities returned home last year after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic - leading to a lockdown of the entire country in early 2020. Hoping to come back soon, many left their belongings behind. However, due to a continuous travel ban on international students, students have not been able to return to campus except for those from South Korea and the US.
Wish to Study in China?
In June, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) asked Indian medical students to write to its overseas Indian affairs (OIA) office about the challenges faced by them in reaching out to their universities along with their contact information.

Following this, Indian students wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to intervene and facilitate their return to China. However, no response has been made as of yet.
Meanwhile, students are under mental stress and anxiety as to how they would complete their medical programmes without gaining any practical experience. Students have been attending online lectures for almost two years now although the MBBS course clearly demands practical learning.
