Paytm Scholarship for Indian Students to Pursue Research at Harvard University

Paytm, founder, Vijay Shekhar Sharma recently announced that the company plans to offer scholarship to two Indian students every year for research at Harvard University. The scholarship will help candidates pursue higher education from Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute (LMSAI) at Harvard University.

Paytm Scholarship for Indian Students to Pursue Research at Harvard University

An official statement has been released by Paytm according to which the founder of the company, Vijay Shekhar Sharma has decided to offer scholarships to two Indian students every year to pursue higher education from Lakshmi Mittal and Family South Asia Institute (LMSAI) at Harvard University.

As per the statement, the scholarship fund will help the institute to enhance its goal to deepen the teaching and research on significant culture and global issues related to South Asia by allowing scholars from South Asia to work with researchers and students across Harvard on critical issues related to the region.

Alan Garber, the Provost of University said that the institute is proud to partner with Vijay Shekhar Sharma and his generosity has affirmed their shared commitment to advance cross-disciplinary research and learning.

He further said that the fund will give top South Asian Scholars an opportunity to pursue research from Harvard University and benefit themselves and their home institutions as a member of the Harvard community. The programme will also strengthen and broaden the academic connections and deepen the engagement of Harvard university with South Asian partners to advance their academic mission at a global level.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Paytm Founder said that he believes in good education that can profoundly impact an individual and his contribution to Harvard University can bring positive change in the world. He added that the integrity, diversity, and commitment to excellence of Harvard is exemplary and the scholarship will help future leaders attain global vision that can transform the lives of millions of people in India and beyond.

Tarun Khanna, the Director of LMSAI and Jorge Paulo Lemann Professor at the Harvard Business School thanked Vijay Sharma for his generosity as, through his contribution, the institute will move closer towards their critical mass of diverse perspectives and ideas to deepen the understanding of South Asia from all angles and disciplines.

He further said that the Mittal Institute is continuously increasing their number of interdisciplinary programmes and fellowships and it encourages scholars of South Asia to join the university and share their research and partners within students and the institute.
