The United Arab Emirates (UAE) currently hosts the highest number of Indian students, with Canada in the second spot, according to a TOI report.
Consultant Maria Mathai, in the report, highlighted two types of international students in the UAE, which include those who move away from their family and home to join campus and those who join a campus as their parents work in the UAE or Saudi Arabia.
She explained that parents already working in these countries have motivated international students including from India to pursue higher education there.

Further, Indian universities also have campuses in the UAE, offering Indian students a two-campus experience. Under this, students start their program in India and join the international campus towards the end of their program.

Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to India, Amanda Strohan, said in the report that Canada continues to be a top destination due to its high quality and internationally-recognised education offered in an open, tolerant, safe and multicultural environment. India, today, is the top country of origin for international students studying in Canada.
An education counsellor added that flexible immigration policies in countries like the UAE, Canada and Australia have played an important role in attracting international students from across the globe.

Also, students looking for affordable study destinations tend to prefer the UAE, apart from the fact that the country has a huge percentage of Indians. This makes it easier for them to reach out to a relative or friend in times of need.
