Many Ukraine-returned Indian medical students organised a protest in Chennai recently, demanding that the Central and State governments should allow them to continue their education in India.
The students urgedthe government to allow them admission to Indian medical colleges as they were compelled to abandon Ukraine due to the war and had to cease their studies.
The first-year student said that each student who has returned home from Ukraine must be able to finish their degrees in one of the country's medical colleges without having to spend lakhs of rupees or retake the entrance exam.

Another student, who is in his third year of veterinary school in Ukraine, stated that he would like to continue his further education in India.
He also said that, in Ukraine, there were 50 students studying veterinary medicine, including himself. Students had to take the NEET to be eligible for the all-India quota through the Veterinary Council of India and they would like to finish the course without having to re-take the NEET exam.
Some of the Ukraine returnees have finished their third, fourth, and fifth years. As a result, these students should be permitted to do internships in India.In support of these demands, the students waved placards and chanted slogans.

As per M.R. Gunasekaran, President of the Ukraine MBBS Students Parents Association, the war has put the futures of 1,896 medical students in Tamil Nadu in peril.
States such as Gujarat, West Bengal, and Telangana, on the other hand, have assured their students to continue their further education in India. However, Tamil Nadu has yet to take any action on this matter.
In the coming days, the association and students are planning to hold similar protests in Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Salem, Kanyakumari, and Coimbatore.
Previously, the parents of Indian medical students from Ukrainelaunched a signature campaign in Ahmedabad seeking the help of the Indian government to accommodate their wards in Indian medical colleges.
