Bukovinian State Medical University (BSMU) is one of the well-known and largest educational institutes in Chernivtsi. The university was founded in the year 1944. BSMU was included into the general register of the European University Association (EUA), Magna Charta Universitatum (Bologna, Italy) and Association of the Carpathian Region Universities. The university is also accredited by the NMC (National Medical Commission) and World Health Organisation (WHO).

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Bukovinian State Medical University (BSMU) has 6 faculties (4 medical, 1 stomatological and 1 pharmacological). The material-technical base of BSMU is located in 15 buildings, and 33 municipal and regional medical establishments are used for Clinical Departments. The campus of the university has lecture halls, classrooms and laboratories equipped with modern technical aids. The university also has 8 hostels, 2 cafes and 6 snack bars. Bukovinian State Medical University offers Bachelors, Masters and Specialist programs in Nursing, Pediatrics, Stomatology, Medicine, General Medicine, Pharmacy, Technology of Medical Diagnostics and Treatment and Industrial Pharmacy. The campus also offers Ph.D programs in Pediatrics, Stomatology, Biology and Nursing. Teaching is provided in Ukrainian and English languages. The university also organises various extracurricular activities and promotes creative fields like arts and photography through clubs and studios. Sports clubs for Volleyball, Wrestling, Basketball, Table Tennis, Chess, Mini Football and Athletics are also there.

Accomplishments & Alumni 

Since its establishment, Bukovinian State Medical University (BSMU) has trained more than 30,000 specialists in General Medicine, Nursing, Pediatrics, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Medical Psychology and Clinical Pharmacy. The alumni of the university are serving the country in many departments. Some of the notable alumni of BSMU include Roman Klichuk (Ukrainian Entrepreneur), Andrii Kurchenko (Dermatologist), Yuri Savenko (Psychiatrist) and Ivan Savovych Zozulya (Scientist). The medical students of Bukovinian State Medical University have also passed state licensing examinations Krok 1 & Krok 2 and got a leading position in Medical Universities of Ukraine.

More than 5,800 students including 1800 foreign citizens are currently studying in Bukovinian State Medical University (BSMU).The faculty members of the university are well experienced and skilled in their respective fields. A total of 103 Doctors of Science, 422 Candidates of Science, 80 Professors, 245 Associate Professors and 1 Senior Research Assistant are teaching at the university. The University staff also includes 16 Honoured Doctors of Ukraine, Honoured Educationalist, Honoured Science Worker, 2 Laureates of the State Prize in the field of science and technology.
