Colorado School of Mines is a public research university which was established as a state institute in 1876. During the early years of the establishment of the Colorado School of Mines, the school started offering courses like Chemistry, Mineralogy, Mining Engineering, Maths, Geology, Botany and Drawing. The university is focused on science and engineering courses. Earlier, the mining course which was offered at the school focused on the processing of gold and silver. Later on, the course was expanded to focus on earth, harnessing energy and environment sustainability. The Colorado School of Mines campus is the safest college campus in Colorado. COVID-19 Response

Colorado School of Mines Fall Semester 2020 has begun. The university has started offering the course with three options. These are in-person, hybrid classes and complete online courses. The university opens with all safety precautions and guidelines defined by the authorities. Most employees and staff of the university are advised to work remotely until further notice by the vice president or the dean. 

There are restrictions on visitors at the university. Regular testing of COVID 19 is done to confirm the safety of people who visit the university. Anyone who is not keeping well is encouraged to stay home. Mask and six feet distancing is mandatory within the campus premises.
