Johns Hopkins University was established in 1849 with the intent of carrying research and teaching hand in hand. Need-Based Scholarship

  • Hopkins university offers need-based scholarship to international students enrolled in an undergraduate degree programme. 
  • The university offers need-based scholarships to around 10% of the total students enrolled at the university as a freshman.

Amount: The average amount of need-based scholarship offered to students is $25,000. The actual amount received by an individual depends on the need of the student. 
 
Application Process: International students who apply for the need-based scholarship must submit the International Student Certification of Finances Form. The form must contain bank verification details along with the application. 
 

Merit-Based Scholarships

The Hodson Trust Scholarship

  • This scholarship is awarded to less than 20 incoming freshmen each year on the basis of academic and personal achievements and leadership.
  • The Hodson Trust Scholarship is automatically renewed each year if the awardee is able to maintain a 3.0 GPA. 
  • Candidates are not required to apply separately for the scholarship, a committee will choose the eligible candidates based on the information provided in their admission application form.
  • The scholarship amount will remain consistent throughout the eligible student’s undergraduate course.

Eligibility:

  • All freshmen applicants will be considered for the scholarship based on their academic and personal merits and achievements along with their leadership skills.

Charles R Westgate Scholarship in Engineering

  • The scholarship is offered as a gift from Kwok-Leung Li, a graduate of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
  • The Scholarship can be renewed yearly for a total of four years provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

Eligibility:

  • Candidates should be enrolled in a programme offered by GWC Whiting School of Engineering.
  • Candidates should remain enrolled in GWC Whiting School of Engineering for their entire duration of their course.
  • Candidates are also required to maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher throughout their course.

Institutional Scholarship

  • Hopkins university provides funds to international students who demonstrate both need-based and merit-based scholarship. 
  • Under this category, the award is renewable up to 8 semesters. 

Eligibility:

  • Students must be enrolled in a full-time course and have maintained a satisfactory academic record to receive the fund.

Apart from the above-mentioned courses, students can also apply for private funds. Such funds are offered by private agencies, NGO’s, organisations etc. Candidates can search for country-specific private funds and apply it within the allocated time.
