The fourth-oldest college in the USA, Princeton University was founded in the year 1746 and was later moved to New Jersey in 1896, the same year when it was officially given its current name. Considered one of the most prestigious universities in the USA, Princeton was Initially established to provide training to the US ministers by the New Light Presbyterians. Princeton University underwent drastic changes post American Civil War era when the expansion of the college took place and the curriculum was also modernized. During the beginning of the 20th century, the institute received the official status of a University.
