Sonoma State University (SSU) which is also known as Sonoma State, Sonoma or simply SSU; was set up in 1961 and was later inducted to the California State University system. It is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges(WASC), the California State Board of Education and the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges(COPLAC) whilst many of its colleges have accreditations such as the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business(AACSB).
SSU is ranked no.457 by Forbes & no.501-600 by Times Higher Education rankings nationally. US News and World Report 2020 Rankings put SSU at no.14(Top Public Schools), no.37(Regional Universities West) & no.292(Business Programs).

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Sonoma State has a 269-acre campus housing the massive 5-acre Library, 2 offsite-campus sites: one dedicated to the students of the natural sciences (Fairfield Osborn Preserve-411 acres) and the 3200 acre Galbreath Wildlands Preserve. SSU houses six colleges namely the School of Arts & Humanities, the School of Business & Economics, the School of Education, the School of Science & Technology, the School of Extended & International Education and the School of Social Sciences.

Also, SSU offers 45+ bachelors and 15 masters degree programs and multiple teaching credentials spread out across 65 departments. The most selected programs at Sonoma State include Business, Marketing, Management, Biological, and Biomedical Sciences, English Language, Literature/Letters, Mathematics, Statistics, Physical Sciences & Visual and Performing Arts.

Accomplishments & Alumni

Regularly mentioned in the 'Top Regional Universities' list, SSU is one of the most requested campuses among the 23-campus California State University system and is also proud to be named in the 'Most Wired Campuses' list by Princeton Review. It is the only university in California to be a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges.

With 53000+ active alumni contributing to the world, some public figures to have graduated from Sonoma are George Ledin (professor at SSU and known for teaching how to program malware), Prof. Dr. Ulf-Dietrich Reips (psychologist & pioneer of internet-based research), Jon Provost (actor) and Michael Fellows (noted computer science researcher)
