The State University of New York at New Paltz (SUNY New Paltz) was established in 1828; however, it became a 4-year degree-granting institution in 1938. The College is fully accredited by MSCHE and by NASAD for Art and design programs, NASM for Music degrees, NAST for degrees in Theatre besides 8 other most sought after accreditations and certifications. According to the US News & World Report, SUNY—New Paltz's ranking in the 2020 edition of Best Colleges is Regional Universities North, #28.
 
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The State University of New York at New Paltz is spread across 216 acres and includes 5 schools for higher education in Liberal Arts & Sciences, Business programs, Science & Engineering,  Fine & Performing Arts, Education, and The Graduate School. The university has around 6807 students pursuing their bachelor’s degree and 950 pursuing masters and higher degrees from a pool of nearly 100 undergraduate and over 50 graduate degree programs. Accomplishments & Alumni

SUNY Paltz provides over 800 leadership opportunities for students and more than 200 recognized clubs and organizations. Apart from extracurricular activities,  New Paltz faculty have been recognized for excellence in teaching with various awards including SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Teaching and SUNY Distinguished Faculty – and a number of research honors including Fulbright, Guggenheim, National Science Foundation and National Endowment for the Arts fellowships. The Princeton Review also selected New Paltz for its 2012 Guide to 322 Green Colleges. The university has produced hundreds of achievers in various streams to name a few are John Turturro, Michael Badalucco, Joan Chen, Regina Calcaterra, Scott Cohen, Fabrizio Moretti, Vicky Jeudy, Yak Ballz, and Lynn Hill.

SUNY New Paltz makes a perfect choice for an international student owing to its diverse student population constituting 38% students of color, 22% Latino, 7% African-American,  6% Asian–Pacific, 3% multi-racial. The undergraduate student population represents students from 40 foreign countries.
