Overview

University of Colorado at Denver is a part of the University of Colorado system of universities. The University of Colorado established a Department of Medicine and Surgery in Denver in 1883. The university finally got its present nomenclature in 2007, after various additions and readjustments were made to the initial establishment. The university is popularly known for its Nobel Laureate faculty, David Wineland (Physics), John Hall (Physics), Eric Cornell & Carl Wieman (Physics), and Thomas Cech (Chemistry). Additionally, there are nine MacArthur Fellowship awardees in the faculty, and winners of the Carnegie Foundation’s Professor of the Year, and Professor of the Year. The university has academic affiliations with CU System and AAHC. 

University of Colorado at Denver has eight affiliated schools and colleges which offer Bachelor’s, Master and Doctorate degrees from these establishments. These eight schools are the College of Architecture & Planning, College of Arts & Media, The Business School, School of Education & Human Development, College of Engineering, Design & Computing, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, School of Public Affairs, and the Graduate School. The School of Architecture & Planning is the only architectural school in Colorado. The university also supports the Presidential Climate Action Project. US News ranks the University of Colorado Denver 254th among National Universities, 90th among Top Performers on Social Mobility, and 123rd among Top Public Schools. It was also ranked at #=392 by the QS World University Ranking 2020.
