AFCAT 2024 Exam Day Instructions: What to Carry, Reporting Time

AFCAT 2024 Exam Day Guidelines: To ensure a smooth experience, it is essential for all participants to carefully review the AFCAT exam day instructions and the provided AFCAT shift timings. AFCAT candidates need to follow some basic exam day guidelines outlined by the IAF such as reaching the exam centres as per the reporting time, carrying their admit card and identification proofs, adhering to dress code, and more.

The Indian Air Force conducts the Air Force Common Admission Test or AFCAT 2024 is a nationwide entrance exam held twice a year to select officers for various IAF branches, such as Ground Duty, Technical, and Flying. AFCAT 1 2024 is scheduled for February 16, 17, and 18, 2024, and the admit card was released on January 30, 2024. Candidates applying for Ground Duty (Non-Technical) and Flying Branch need to take the AFCAT exam, while those applying for Ground Duty (Technical) must take both the AFCAT and the Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).

AFCAT 1 2024 Exam Highlights

The Indian Air Force (IAF) has published the AFCAT 1 vacancy for 2024 on its official website. There are a total of 317 vacancies available in the AFCAT Flying Branch and Ground Duty (Technical & Non-Technical branches). AFCAT Exam Day General Guidelines 

Enlisted below are some general guidelines for the AFCAT exam 2024 that applicants must adhere to:

• Candidates must reach the exam location in batches beginning at 07:30 am (for the first shift) and 12:30 pm (for the second shift) according to the time frame provided on the AFCAT 2024 admit card.
• Any request to change the exam location or date will be denied.
• Candidates must just pre-print their thumb on the admit card before entering the test centre. Signatures on admissions cards must be validated in front of the invigilator(s).
• Candidates must be at the AFCAT 2024 exam centre by the reporting time for frisking, verification processes, biometrics, identification, and examination of the admission card, ID proof, photos, signature, and other materials.
• Applicants are advised to familiarise themselves with the exam centre's location ahead of time and to attend on time.

For EKT Applicants Only

• Candidates who have registered for the EKT test will stay in the exam room following the completion of the AFCAT paper.
• Applicants must take the EKT test in the stream indicated on their admit card.

Dress Code

• Applicants must wear slippers or sandals with flat heels.
• Shoes and other closed-toed footwear are not permitted in the examination centre.
• Large-buttoned apparel is not permitted.
• Applicants who are dressed for a religious event will be thoroughly investigated.

AFCAT 2024 Exam Day Guidelines

Here are some of the important exam day guidelines for the AFCAT 2024 exam.

Carry Your Admit Card and Valid ID Proof

Candidates are advised to carry their admit cards while going for the exam. They can download the AFCAT admit card from the official website of the Air Force Common Admission Test. Candidates should note that they will also have to carry one ID proof such as a Driver's License, Voter ID, Aadhaar or Passport.

Reach on Time

Candidates are advised to reach the exam centre at least one hour before the exam. They can check the exam centre allotted to them from the admit card. The address, as well as the exam timings, will also be available on the AFCAT admit card. Candidates appearing for the Shift 1 exam will not be allowed to enter the examination hall after the entry time and those appearing for the Shift 2 will not be allowed to enter after the deadline.

Read Instructions Provided on the Admit Card

Candidates are advised to read all the instructions provided on the admit card as well as on the question paper. Going through the instructions will allow the candidates to understand the exam pattern as well as the important points that should be kept in mind while answering the questions.

Avoid Wasting Time on Doubtful Questions

Candidates should avoid wasting time on doubtful questions. They should focus on answering the questions in which they are confident. The total duration of the AFCAT exam is 02 Hours (120 minutes) and no extra time will be provided to any candidate.

Manage Your Time Wisely

The question paper of the AFCAT will contain questions from Numerical Ability, Verbal Ability in English and Reasoning and Military Aptitude Tests. Candidates are advised to divide the total time wisely so that they get enough time for all the sections of the exam. 

Take Proper Rest

Candidates are advised to take proper rest before going for the exam. They are also advised to avoid learning new concepts and topics on exam day. They can revise the notes prepared by them during the preparation.

Do Not Carry Any Prohibited Items Inside the Exam Centre

Candidates are advised not to carry any prohibited items inside the exam hall. They should not carry any other document except the admit card and ID proof. Those who are carrying any prohibited item will not be allowed to enter the exam centre.

ID Proof Required with Admit Card on AFCAT Exam Day

Provided below is the list of items that the candidates can carry as ID proof on the AFCAT exam day.

• Aadhaar Card
• PAN card
• Driving licence
• Passport
• Voter identity card

AFCAT Exam Day Guidelines: Items Allowed Inside AFCAT Exam Centers

Candidates need to carry the following items while going to the AFCAT examination centre.

• e-Admit Card of AFCAT 
• Another valid photo identity card such as a PAN card/ Voter Identity card/ Passport/ Driving Licence/ College identity card or any other valid photo identity proof, with details of the father’s name, date of birth, name and a clear photograph.
• Two passport-size colour photographs- same as the photo uploaded during the application process (to be pasted, not stapled on the Admit Card next to the printed photo and on the attendance sheet at the exam centre).
• The Aadhaar Card of the candidate
• Ballpoint Pen (Blue or Black) for signing on the attendance sheet and rough work.

AFCAT Exam Day Guidelines: Items Not Permitted In AFCAT Centers

Provided below is the list of items not allowed inside the AFCAT examination centre.

• Blue tooth devices, electronic/ communication / digital/ wireless devices like documents, calculators, electronic watches with facilities of calculator, cellular phones, memory cards/stick, personal digital assistants (PDA), pagers, organizers, concealed microphones or cameras, radio, headset, Walkman, recorder, translator etc.
• Textual or stationery materials include log tables, pencil-box/ geometry box, book, clipboard, and slide rule (except blue or black transparent ballpoint pen).
• Personal items (bracelets, wristwatch/wristband, handbags, wallets, purses, headgear, ornaments, scarf, goggles, jackets) and eatable items (chips, chocolates, food, drinks etc.).

If any candidate is found carrying any of the items listed above, his/ her examination will be cancelled. Furthermore, candidates are advised not to bring any valuable or expensive items to the Examination Centers, as their safekeeping cannot be guaranteed. The Indian Air Force will not be held liable for any losses incurred.
