The CSIR NET Physical Sciences Exam for December 2025 is expected to be of a moderate difficulty level. The category-wise cutoffs for JRF, Assistant Professor, and PhD admissions are also likely to be slightly higher than the previous year. A detailed exam analysis will be available for all the candidates after the exam concludes on December 18, 2025. The exam analysis will focus on the section-wise exam difficulty level, the number of good attempts, and the total number of questions asked in the exam. The exam will be conducted in a CBT format, for a total of 200 marks.

The entrance exam will be conducted by the National Testing Agency on behalf of the CSIR. The final merit list announcing the shortlisted candidates will be published by the NTA after the cutoff lists are released. The entrance exam will comprise three sections, namely, Part A for General Aptitude, Part B for Core Subject, and Part C  for Advanced or Analytical topics. The first section is common to all subjects, followed by the second part, which is conceptual in nature, and the final section, which is application-based or analytical.
