The JEE Main NIT Cutoff 2026 will be published soon after the JEE Mains 2026 Results are announced. According to the previous year's trends in the category-wise NIT cutoff, students are expected to secure at least 240+ marks in the JEE Main 2026 exam to get shortlisted for NIT admission. Those who secure 180+ marks in the entrance exam may still get into the mid-tier and newer NITs for admission into B.Tech courses. A score of 240+ marks in the JEE Mains 2026 is equivalent to 99.8+ percentile, and AIR 2,100, approximately. A percentile score of 90 and above can open the doors for top NITs like NIT Raipur, NIT Delhi, NIT Calicut, etc. However, with a low rank like 70,000 and above, candidates can get seats at low-popularity NITs like NIT Sikkim, NIT Meghalaya etc. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority will be releasing the JEE Main cutoff 2026 for NITs via online mode. Candidates can check the minimum marks required to qualify for admission to NITs on this page, along with the previous years' JoSAA opening & closing ranks.

Factors Affecting JEE Main NIT Cutoff 2026
JEE Main cutoffs or closing ranks may differ each year across the participating institutes depending on some crucial factors. The main factors determining the JEE Main NIT cutoff 2026 may include the following -- Number of Test Takers: The overall number of candidates appearing for the JEE Main exam every year influences the cutoffs. A higher number of test takers usually leads to higher cutoffs because of increased competition.
- Difficulty Level of the Exam: The difficulty level of the exam papers can vary slightly from year to year. If the paper is considered to be easier, the cutoffs might rise, and vice versa.
- Reservation and Seat Matrix: The reservation policy for different categories (SC, ST, OBC, etc.) and the total number of seats available at the institutes also play a crucial role. More seats can lead to slightly lower cutoffs for some categories.
- Performance of Top Scorers: The performance of the top scorers can also influence the cutoffs. If a significant number of candidates score exceptionally well, the cutoffs might increase slightly.
- Previous Year Cutoff Trends: Analyzing the cutoffs of the past few years can provide candidates with an idea of the general range to expect. However, it's important to remember that past trends may not always be an accurate predictor of future cutoffs.
