The GATE COAP 2026 seat allotment process is conducted for granting seats to eligible students for admission to their desired courses. Students must register and select their programs within the deadlines.

GATE COAP 2026 seat allotment rounds are expected to be held in March 2026. COAP is a portal where IITs and PSUs put their offers based on their selection criteria. You need to apply for PSU/ institute separately. However, if you wish to get admission to NITs and IIITs, then you need to apply for CCMT counselling.
During COAP 2026 counselling, you must register and choose the programs and institutes to which you wish to apply. Additionally, there will be no COAP registration fees. The GATE 2026 counselling is being conducted via the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) and the Centralised Counselling for M.Tech/M.Des (CCMT). What is COAP?

COAP is a platform where GATE qualifiers with a valid score can apply for admission to different IITs and PSUs, for admission and recruitment, respectively. Eligibility Criteria of GATE COAP 2026

To be eligible for GATE COAP 2026, you will have to qualify for certain eligibility criteria. Before proceeding with COAP 2026 registration, ensure to go through the eligibility criteria mentioned below:-

  1. To apply for COAP, applicants have a valid GATE score from the years 2026, 2024, or 2023.
  2. If you have more than one legitimate GATE score, then you must input the highest score upon registration, but data regarding the other scores will be requested as well.
  3. If you have a GATE score of 2026 on more than one paper, you must give information on all of your results.
  4. You must meet the requirements set out by the institute to which you are applying.
  5. You must hold Indian Nationality.

1. Registration

The first stage in the COAP 2026 process is registration, and you will be able to register yourself through the official website of COAP. You will have to read the instructions and detailed procedure before proceeding with actual registration. This will help you to complete the registration process without hassle.

2. Accept Terms of Instructions

After reading the procedures and terms, you will have to accept the terms and instructions. Without accepting the terms and conditions.

3. Fill Details

The registration form will be displayed, and the applicants will have to fill out the following details-

  1. Your Name

  2. Registration Number of GATE 2026

  3. GATE 2026 Score

  4. Date of Birth (DOB)

  5. Personal E-Mail ID

  6. Personal Mobile Number

4. Submit Registration

You will have to cross-check the details mentioned above, and the applicants will then have to click on ‘ Submit ’ and confirm the registration.

5. Login

You will now receive login information via email/ SMS. You will have to log in and verify his/her registration details.

6. Additional GATE Score (If any)

If you have an additional GATE score, you will be able to add the same after logging in. Please note that you will only be allowed to enter the last three years’ GATE scores.

7. View Job/ Admission Offer

After the complete registration process is done, you can either view the job offer or admission offer (if any) on the portal.

As per the norms, you will have to visit the official website for offer acceptance. The stages involved in this process are as follows -

If you have multiple offers, there will be an option that indicates ‘Offer 1, 2, 3, 4’.

Among the list of offers available, you can choose the most appropriate order.

Reject and Wait

If you remain unsatisfied with the current offer and want to participate in the further rounds, then you can choose this option, i.e., ‘ Retain and Wai t’.

What Happens After Selecting ‘Accept and Freeze’?

GATE COAP 2026 Important Instructions

You can check the important guidelines regarding the GATE COAP 2026 below:-

  • COAP stands for Common Offer Acceptance Portal, and all Participating Institutes / PSUs will upload their offers during a set time range.
  • After completing COAP registration 2026 with a valid GATE Number, you must provide the extra qualified GATE Registration Number while logging into the site for the first time.
  • After completing your registration, the user ID will be delivered to your registered email address and an SMS to your registered cellphone number. Furthermore, passwords will be supplied by email, which may take some time due to a network issue with the service provider. If you do not receive the password right away, please be patient.
  • If you have several qualified GATE registration numbers and are unable to enter the qualified GATE registration numbers from previous years in COAP, this might be due to a discrepancy in information (Name and Date of Birth) between GATE years. You must verify your name and date of birth on all GATE admission cards from various years, and then write to us in detail about the problem, including your name, date of birth, and registration number year-wise in the email.
  • Please allow a couple of working days to resolve your issues.
  • COAP registration is entirely free. The participating institutes have made it essential to include a COAP registration number on their M.Tech application portals.
