How is Gujarat University CGPA Calculated?

According to the 2015 recommendations, Gujarat University also shifted to a CBCS system and changed its grading pattern from percentage to a CGPA system. Gujarat University grading system is done on the basis of several factors such as:

  • Marks obtained in the end semester university exams
  • Total marks acquired (end semester university exam marks)
  • Marks for internal assessment (for each course)

For instance, if a student holds a CGPA of 8.5 on a 10-point scale, then, 

                             8.5 x 9.5 = 80.75%

Therefore, the student's CGPA equivalent in percentage is approximately 80.75% which according to Gujarat University grading system falls between the percentage range of 70 - 84.99 and is awarded Grade ‘O’ which stands for ‘Outstanding’ or ‘First Class with Distinction.

Gujarat University Eligibility Criteria

For UG Admissions:

  • The candidate needs Indian citizenship.
  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 from a recognised board.
  • Candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the 12th board examination.
  • Candidates must have scored a minimum of 55% marks in the 12th board examination for B.Tech course or other related science and technology programmes.
  • Candidates must have studied the subject they are aiming for at the UG level during 10+2.

For PG Admissions:

  • The student must have Indian citizenship.
  • Candidates must have completed a Bachelor's degree from a recognised university.
  • Candidates must have scored a minimum of 50% marks in the final year degree examination.
  • Candidates must have scored a minimum of 55% marks in the final board examination for M.Tech course, M.Sc course or other related science and technology courses.
  • Candidates must have studied the subject that they are aiming for post graduation during their graduation.
  • Candidates in the final year of graduation can also apply. However, they have to provide their provisional degree and mark sheet during the document verification process.
