How to score 200 in CUET English Language

The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) is one of the most popular national-level entrance exams in India for UG admissions. NTA is responsible for conducting the entrance exam and thousands of students take part in the CUET exam. In CUET, 13 languages are offered to students in Section 1A. The English Language is an important domain subject in CUET 2023 and getting a good score in it is not so tough as the syllabus is based on NCERT Class 12 syllabus. So, candidates who plan to score 200 in CUET English Language need a proper preparation plan. 

English is often considered an easy subject that does not require too much preparation. However, if the basics are not clear, English can be a tough subject for scoring 200. A subject like the English Language needs smart study for scoring full marks. There is nothing to memorise in English but practising grammar, vocabulary, etc. is a must. If your basics are clear, half of the task is almost done. 

CUET 2023 is going to be conducted from May 21, 2023, to May 31, 2023. CUET Admit Card 2023 has been released on May 19, 2023. How to Score 200 in CUET English Language 2023

In CUET English Language, 50 questions will be given, out of which candidates have to answer 40 questions. For each correct answer, 5 marks will be awarded whereas 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer. When the question paper will be given, candidates must make sure to spend at least 5 minutes reading the questions and identify the 40 questions that they will attempt. This way, they are going to save a lot of time. 45 minutes will be allotted for students to answer the question paper. If you want to score 200 in CUET English Language, it is advisable to attempt those questions which you are confident about as the exam follows negative marking for wrong answers. 

To score 200 in English, aspirants need to prepare by dividing the paper into 3 parts - core/ base, vocabulary, and logical. On the basis of basic grammar, we will prepare verbal ability, sentence improvement and figure of speech. Next, you can move on to vocabulary, which includes synonyms and antonyms, one-word and idiom phrases. Candidates can refer to the previous year's question papers of CUET to understand the questions given from vocabs or can refer to the most asked questions in competitive exams. The logical part includes reading comprehension and rearranging the parts. Those who have strongly prepared all 3 parts will also have a strong hold on spelling errors, close tests and fillers.  

Scoring 200 in CUET English Language will not be difficult if the basic grammar of the candidates is strong. Newspapers are an important means to improve vocabulary and practising questions regularly will help you to score full marks. Strategies to Score 200 in CUET English Language

Even after knowing the CUET English Language syllabus, students often get puzzled about how to start their CUET exam preparation. To score 200 in CUET English Language, candidates need a solid preparation strategy. Now that you have an idea of the English Language question pattern, syllabus, etc., it is time for you to know the effective tips and score 200 easily. 

  • Make a Study Plan

The first step to getting full marks in the CUET English Language is to prepare an effective study plan. Time is important for all and this time should be spent in preparing all the topics included in the syllabus. The study plan should be an apt schedule that serves the purpose of the students. At least 2 hours should be allocated to prepare for English while keeping in mind that rest is also necessary for applicants. If you study for 2 hours at a stretch, keep half an hour to relax, meditate or do recreational activities. 

  • Divide Equal Time for All Topics 

CUET English Language includes 6 topics and aspirants should equally divide their time to prepare all 6 topics. All topics are important and they will be assessed based on this syllabus. Dividing equal amounts of time will help structurally prepare for English and get a score of 200. Do not miss out on any topics as in the exam you anyway will have to leave out 10 questions. The rest 40 questions will include a combination of all the topics. If you study English for 2 hours, keep half an hour for the subjects that you find need more practice. 

  • Revision is Important

One of the key characteristics of CUET preparation is revision. At least a month before the exam should be kept for revision. With proper revision, a candidate is sure to score full marks in the exam. Revision is basically recollecting the topics that have already been studied earlier. With proper revision, students will be able to store everything in their memories.

Candidates must know what they have to answer in the CUET English Language paper. Vocabulary is an important part of this paper and basics should be cleared to score 200. Always go through the syllabus and question paper pattern before you start your exam preparation otherwise, the preparation will be of no use to you.

CUET best books help students to prepare well for the exam. A good grammar book will help clear the basics while those who want to improve their vocabulary must learn new words from books, newspapers, magazines, etc and apply them in regular conversation. 

  • Practice Daily

Candidates must be consistent with their practice in order to score 200 in CUET English Language.
