CAT 95+ Percentile Colleges
|IIM Ahmedabad||IIM Bangalore|
|IIM Calcutta||FMS Delhi|
With a 95+ percentile score in CAT, you can seek admission in almost all of the top MBA colleges in India. These include the topmost Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) as well as all the other colleges ranked below them.
In this bracket, your high percentile brings you to the zone where you fulfil the cutoff for almost all of the MBA colleges in India as FMS, University of Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, IIT Delhi, SJMSOM IIT Mumbai and others.
CAT 90 - 95 Percentile Colleges
|MDI Gurgaon||IIT Delhi|
|SJMSOM IIT Mumbai||IIT Kharagpur|
|IIT Kanpur||IIM Indore|
|IIM Kozhikode||IIM Lucknow|
|IIM Shillong||IIM Ranchi|
|IMT Ghaziabad||SP Jain School of Global Management|
Do not get disheartened if you miss the opportunity to be in the first bracket but are placed in this bracket. In the long run, the difference, if any, will vanish. Even if you don’t get calls from some of the top IIMs, popularly referred to as BLACKIS (IIM Bangalore, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Calcutta, Kozhikode, Indore, and Shillong), some will give you call, provided your academic records do not ditch you.
Gear up for other MBA entrance exams like XAT and aim the other top B-schools like XLRI Jamshedpur, Department of Management Studies - IIT Madras, SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) Mumbai, TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI) Manipal, IMT Ghaziabad, Indian Institute of Forest Management (IIFM) Bhopal, Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra, and such other colleges accepting XAT score for admission.
CAT 85 - 90 Percentile Colleges
If you are here, you can plan to sit for other MBA entrance exams as a backup such as XAT, SNAP and others and focus on dedicated preparation. Although most of the exams have some common sections such as Quant and Verbal Ability, you should have a focused and dedicated approach towards the sections.
CAT 80 - 85 Percentile Colleges

|IMI Delhi||KJ Somaiya Mumbai|
|Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM), Chennai||Delhi School of Economics (DSE), New Delhi|

CAT 70 - 80 Percentile Colleges
There are plenty of colleges that accept candidates with a CAT score in the range of 70 to 80 percentile. However, in this range, your best bet would be to go for a college that offers the best placements.
If you have obtained a percentile below 80, you will not have many options in the top 50 B-Schools in India. But you will surely get calls from many of the Tier 3 B-schools.
B-Schools Outside The Top 100 Rank
Moving below the 70 percentile mark in CAT will not leave you with many options in the top 100 MBA colleges in India. However, there will still be plenty of colleges where you will be able to join an MBA programme.
Colleges for Less Than 70 Percentile in CAT
In colleges that accept less than 70 percentile in CAT, there is no particular admission deadline or cut-off percentile. Mostly, they do not reject anyone in the GD/PI.
Factors Controlling Admission Based on CAT Percentile
Even though getting calls from these B-schools primarily depend on the CAT score (percentile), other factors affect the chance of getting a call; whatever is your CAT result, your percentile score is not the end of the road. It is only the start of the journey as there are other factors like marks in XII and undergraduate degree, work experience, category et al., that can influence the scope of your MBA career.
Having said that, it is advisable that this is the right time to shortlist the B-schools and start applying now.
