Is JEE Main Tough In 2024?

It is difficult to say whether the JEE Mains 2024 will be tough, as the difficulty of the exam can depend on a variety of factors such as the level of difficulty of the questions, the number of students taking the exam, and the level of competition among students. Reportedly, 12.3 lakh candidates registered for the JEE Main 2024 January Session, exceeding last year's cumulative (Session 1 & Session 2) registrations by approximately 68,000. Thus, the high level of competition and the increasing number of aspirants determine the JEE Mains 2024 difficulty level

JEE Main 2024 Difficulty Level - Important Factors to Keep in Mind

Here are some additional factors that contribute to the difficulty level of JEE Mains 2024

  1. Vast Syllabus: The JEE Mains syllabus is extensive and covers a wide range of topics from Class 11 and Class 12 Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Students need to have a comprehensive understanding of each subject and be prepared to solve complex problems.

  2. Conceptual Depth: The exam questions often require a deep understanding of fundamental concepts and their applications. Candidates need to have a strong grasp of the underlying principles to solve problems effectively.

  3. Application-Based Questions: JEE Mains focuses on testing a candidate's ability to apply their knowledge to solve real-life problems. The questions are designed to assess analytical and logical thinking skills, requiring students to think critically and creatively.

  4. Multiple Concepts Integration: Many questions in JEE Mains involve the integration of multiple concepts from different subjects. This requires students to have a holistic understanding of the subjects and the ability to connect various concepts to arrive at the correct solution.

  5. Time Management: JEE Mains is a time-bound exam, and students have to answer a large number of questions within a fixed duration. Managing time effectively is crucial to attempt all the questions and avoid running out of time.

  6. High Competition: JEE Mains is a highly competitive exam, with thousands of students competing for a limited number of seats in top engineering colleges. The level of difficulty is set accordingly to ensure that only the most capable and prepared students secure admission.

  7. Changing Exam Pattern: The NTA JEE Main exam pattern 2024 has undergone changes in recent years, introducing multiple-choice questions (MCQs) as well as numerical value-based questions. Along with the traditional single-correct answer MCQs, the inclusion of numerical value-based questions adds an extra layer of complexity, requiring precise calculations and accuracy.

What is a Good Score in JEE Main 2024?

A good JEE Main score differs from student to student, based on the college to which they want to get accepted. If a student wishes to get enrolled to one of the top NITs, the JEE Main score necessary will differ from that required for admission to one of the top IIITs. As a result, a good JEE Main score is mostly determined by the institution to which a student intends to go.

Good Score to Attempt JEE Advanced

According to previous year's trends, a general applicant must have a percentile score of at least 85 to be considered for IIT admission through JEE Advanced.

Score Required to Join Top NITs and IIITs

According to recent patterns, a student should have a percentile score of 80 to 90 to be admitted to an NIT. In terms of ranks, students should have JEE Main scores ranging from 15000 to 20000 in order to be admitted. According to the latest trend, candidates seeking admission to IIITs should have a percentile score of 70 to 80. Candidates' JEE Main ranks should be less than 25000 in most cases.
