MAH MBA CET Normalisation Process

MAH MBA CET normalization process 2023 is an established practice to ensure that candidates are neither benefitted nor disadvantaged due to the difficulty level of the examination. The MAH MBA CET exam is conducted across multiple sessions to accommodate every candidate who registered for the exam. However, the question paper for different sessions of MAH MBA CET does not remain the same. Since the different question papers have different levels of difficulty, normalization in MAH MBA CET is used to make sure that candidates are evaluated using the same standards and scale. The normalization process for MAH MBA CET 2023 follows a similar pattern to other entrance exams that are conducted in multiple sessions.

MAH MBA CET 2023 was conducted on March 25 and 26, in multiple shifts, after which a retest was conducted on May 6, 2023. MAH MBA CET 2023 counselling process is ongoing and the cutoff for CAP Round I has been released on August 2 on the official website (mba2023.mahacet.org.in). Candidates who qualified for the exam must know everything about the normalization process in order to understand how they are assessed and how their final scores are calculated. In this article, we have mentioned all the important details candidates need to know about the MAH MBA CET normalization process 2023.

MAH MBA CET Normalization Process 2023 - Explained

The MAH MBA CET normalization process is a procedure that makes sure that the candidates from one particular session are not at an advantage or disadvantage as compared to the test takers from another session due to the varying levels of difficulty in the respective shifts of MAH MBA CET. When the MAH MBA CET results are prepared, the scores of every candidate are normalized and then posted as the final score. This normalization process is not dissimilar to the ones used in other popular MBA entrance exams like CAT, CMAT, NMAT by GMAC, etc.

MAH MBA CET Normalization Process 2023 - Important Elements

The MAH MBA CET normalization process, although easy to understand, is a sophisticated practice used by the exam authorities for maintaining equality among the candidates across all the sessions of the exam. There are several important components of this normalization method that candidates should be aware of in order to properly understand the entire process. The most important elements of the MAH MBA CET Normalization Process are as follows:

  • MAH MBA CET Marking Scheme

  • MAH MBA CET Raw Score

  • MAH MBA CET Percentile Score

Each component mentioned above has been explained in detail below.

MAH MBA CET Marking Scheme 2023

One of the most important things that candidates should understand about the MAH MBA CET exam is the marking scheme. Without knowing the MAH MBA CET marking scheme properly, candidates will not be able to understand how their performance on the exam is evaluated. The MAH MBA CET marking scheme is quite straightforward and simple to understand. The major highlights of the MAH MBA CET marking scheme are mentioned below:

  • Candidates are awarded one mark for each correct answer on the MAH MBA CET question paper.

  • For incorrect answers, there is no penalty levied on candidates.

  • There is also no negative marking for unattended questions by candidates on MAH MBA CET.

MAH MBA CET Raw Score

The MAH MBA CET raw score is the overall score obtained by candidates on the question paper, derived by calculating the individual scores of each section on the MAH MBA CET exam using the marking scheme and then adding the total score of all four sections. Calculating the raw scores of candidates is the first step towards arriving at the MAH MBA CET final results. However, candidates must make a note of the fact that the MAH MBA CET raw scores are not the scores that appear on their scorecard/result, and their raw scores are also irrelevant during the time of admission. It is the candidate’s scaled scores or percentile scores on the MAH MBA CET exam that are used for MBA admissions.

MAH MBA CET Percentile Score

The MAH MBA CET percentile score is a parameter that is used to determine a candidate’s performance on the exam relative to all the other test takers of MAH MBA CET. The percentile score is an accurate measure of how well a candidate has performed in the exam as compared to other candidates, which makes it easier for colleges and universities to select prospective students for MBA admission. This percentile score is calculated by converting the raw scores of candidates to a scaled score ranging from 100 to 0. The normalized scores of candidates in the exam are also used to prepare the MAH MBA CET final merit list.

State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra states that “The Percentile Score indicates the percentage of candidates that have scored EQUAL TO OR BELOW (same or lower raw scores) that particular Percentile in that examination. Therefore the topper (highest score) of each session will get the same Percentile of 100 which is desirable.”

How is the MAH MBA CET Percentile Score Calculated?

Calculation of the MAH MBA CET percentile score is simple to understand since it is done using a formula. The percentile scores of candidates in MAH MBA CET are their normalized scores and are used for securing MBA admission. The MAH MBA CET percentile score is calculated up to seven decimal places. The formula for calculating the percentile score is as follows:

100 x (No. of candidates in a session with raw score ≤ the candidate’s score) / Total number of candidates in the session

Calculation of the sectional percentile scores of a candidate in MAH MBA CET will also be done using this formula. Take a look at the example mentioned below to better understand the percentile score calculation process.

In this method of scoring, the HIGHEST RAW SCORE in each paper (irrespective of the raw scores) will be the 100 Percentile indicating that 100% of candidates have scored equal to or lesser than the highest scorer/ topper for that session. Therefore, the Highest Raw Score will be normalized in the following way:

MAH MBA CET Score Compilation 2023
