Maharashtra Common Entrance Test Cell will conduct the counselling for Maharashtra NEET PG 2023. Candidates who wish to apply for postgraduate courses in medical colleges across Maharashtra will have to register and fill the application form on mahacet.org, providing personal details, contact number, academic records, and NEET PG 2023 details. Following registration, the Maha CET Cell will conduct a physical document verification process and publish a list of registered candidates who need to get their documents verified. Candidates will be notified about the dates for document verification.

A state merit list will be published based on registration and document verification. The candidates included in the merit list will be eligible for Maharashtra NEET PG 2023 counselling. The candidates will have to fill in their preferences for seat allotment. The counselling for seat allotment will be conducted in two rounds. A mop-up round will be conducted to fill the remaining vacant seats after the conclusion of the second round. The counselling will be held for the allotment of 50% state quota seats. The admission to the state quota seats in Maharashtra will be based on NEET PG 2023 scores and filled choices. The counselling will be held for the allotment of a total of 4784 MD, MS, and PG Diploma seats across medical and dental colleges in Maharashtra.

Maharashtra NEET PG Medical Counselling 2023 - Eligibility Criteria 

Aspirants looking forward to Maharashtra PG Medical Admission 2023 must fulfill the eligibility criteria, which are as follows:

  • Candidates must be citizens of India. 

  • Candidates must have a valid Passport/12th School Leaving Certificate, or any other relevant certificate issued by the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Chief Metropolitan Magistrate to substantiate the proof of nationality. 

  • Non-Residential Indians or NRIs are not eligible to apply for the Maharashtra NEET PG Counselling process. However, they may apply for the 15% AIQ seats in minority medical colleges and unaided private colleges. 

  • Applicants who are residents of the state and have taken admission to MBBS colleges outside Maharashtra under the 15% AIQ, and have earned a degree from any other state university are also eligible to appear for Maharashtra PG Medical Counselling 2023. However, they will need to submit a certificate from the Dean of the respective state colleges and a certificate of Maharashtra by the virtue of residence. 

  • Applicants must have passed MBBS/BDS from a recognized institute in Maharashtra under the MCI or DCI. 

  • Applicants must have completed their compulsory rotatory internship on or before July 31, 2023.

  • Candidates must be medically fit.

Maharashtra NEET PG Medical Counselling 2023

Admissions to the different PG medical courses such as MD, MS and PG diploma courses will be based on the NEET PG 2023 scores obtained by the aspirants. However, the counselling process is being conducted at the All India and State-level separately. At the All India Level, the Medical Counselling Committee is responsible for conducting the counselling process for PG medical courses in India. However, for the state-level counselling process, the respective bodies who have been appointed for the counselling process will be responsible for the same.

As per the guidelines that have been mentioned by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research, candidates will have to follow the applications and counselling protocols for a successful counselling process.

The PG Medical counselling process in Maharashtra for 2023 has been defined as follows:

Submission of Application

The directorate will release the first merit list, as per which the first round of counselling session will be conducted. Candidates will have to log in to the official website and fill in the online registration forms along with the requisite counselling fee. 

Round 1

In Round 1, while filling in the details during the registration process, the candidates will be asked to select the college of their choice. All candidates have the liberty to select as many choices as they like, depending on the course of their choice.

Once all the choices have been selected and submitted, candidates will be offered the seats, as per the Maharashtra PG Counselling Merit list and their choice. Those candidates who have been selected to one of the colleges, depending on their score, will be asked to report to the college that has been allotted to them with the specified documents within the specified time period.

Those candidates were not allotted a seat during the first round of the counselling session for PG medical courses in Maharashtra will be able to take part in the second round of the session.

Round 2

After the first round of the counselling session, the seats that remain vacant will be allocated to students who did receive an allocation in the first round. During the second round of the counselling session;

  • Candidates who were allocated a seat in the first round but preferred to wait for a better choice of college and course.

  • Candidates must have been listed under the waiting list category.

Mop-Up Round

Candidates who were unable to grab a seat in either of the two rounds that had previously been conducted for the admissions to the PG Medical courses can take another opportunity through the Mop-up round. For the Maharashtra PG Medical counselling mop-up round, candidates will be able to grab any vacant seat available under the PG medical colleges of the country.

Waiting List 

The Maharashtra PG waiting list 2023 will be applicable to only those candidates who are unsatisfied with the college and course that had been allotted to them. In such situations, candidates are required to write an application to the respective authorities. Following this, candidates will be brought under the waiting list category and will be eligible for vacant seats after the completion of all counselling rounds.

Candidates will need to produce the listed documents at the time of Maharashtra PG Medical Counselling 2023:

  • Copy of NEET PG application form 2023

  • Copy of NEET PG admit card 2023

  • Photo ID proof (Aadhaar card/PAN card/Driving license/passport)

  • NEET PG result 2023

  • 10th & 12th School leaving certificate

  • MBBS marksheet

  • Attempt certificates for all MBBS examinations from the head of institution

  • Compulsory rotatory internship certificate

  • Registration certificate from SMC or MCI

  • Medical fitness certificate

  • Caste certificate (if applicable)

  • Undertaking for the number of attempts and bond service
