How is MHT CET Percentile 2026 Calculated?

The MHT CET percentile is calculated based on the number of students in your respective shift who scored equal to or less than you. While the percentile is not a reflection of your actual marks, it is rather an indication of your performance in relation to the other students in your shift. Note that in case two students get the same percentile, then the authority uses a normalisation process to ensure fairness. The procedure to calculate the percentile can be found below:-

Percentile = 100 * No. of candidates in shift with Raw Score (less than or equal to) Your score / Total number of students in that shift

Salient features of the calculation:

  • The percentile is calculated to 7 decimal places to reduce the chances of a tie between students and to make the merit list as precise as possible.
  • You are only compared to the people who sat for the exact same paper as you.
  • The highest scorer in every shift is automatically assigned a 100 percentile, regardless of whether their raw marks were 180 or 160.

With 45 % in class 12th, you may not qualify for the regular B.Tech admission criteria, as the programme generally requires a higher percentage in subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English. My advice is not to focus only on one course. Choose a programme where you're eligible, develop strong skills, gain practical experience and keep learning. In the long run, your skills and dedication will matter more than the specific route you take to reach your career goals.
