Punjab B.Tech Admissions 2025 - Punjab B.Tech admissions 2025 have started by the IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar, and the online centralized counselling schedule 2025 has also been released. The schedule is applicable for all the campuses & colleges of IKGPTU and MRSPTU. The counselling will be conducted in two rounds, and the IK Gujral Punjab Technical University will prepare a merit list on the basis of the JEE Main and grade 12 scores. Entrance Exams Accepted for Punjab B Tech Admission 2025

Punjab B.Tech admissions 2025 are done through JEE Main 2025 scores. You must appear and pass in the JEE Main 2025 result . to be eligible for Punjab BTech admission 2025. Along with JEE Main scores, and class 10+2 marks will also be taken into account for BTech admission in Punjab. Those from other states can also apply for online admission. Punjab Home State students aspiring for B.Tech admission through the fee waiver scheme will have to mandatorily register for online counselling. The participating colleges will come up with opening and closing ranks for B.Tech courses, and the admissions are based on the cutoff ranks.

B Tech Admissions in Punjab Eligibility Criteria 2025

85% of B.Tech seats in Punjab are reserved for students within the state while 15% of B Tech seats apply to all students on an all-India basis. B. Tech admissions eligibility criteria in Punjab are as follows –

Domicile Rules

  • 85% of B.Tech seats available under the state quota will be applicable for the residents of Punjab state.
  • Students competing for B.Tech admission in Punjab under state quota must have passed Class 12 from any recognized school located in Punjab.
  • Students applying under the state quota must submit a Residence Certificate.
  • Children of central government employees working in Punjab (for two years) are eligible for B.Tech admission under the state quota.

Academic Requirements

  • B.Tech students of Punjab must have passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, as the major subjects are eligible for admission.
  • The students must have at least 45-50% of marks in Class 12 to secure admission.
  • Students must have valid JEE Main score.

Punjab B Tech Admission Process 2025

I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University conducts the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for Punjab B Tech admissions. Those with a JEE Main score and minimum qualifying marks in Class 12 can apply for B Tech admission in Punjab under state quota or all-India quota.

State Quota B Tech Admissions: 85% of B.Tech seats in engineering colleges across Punjab apply to the state quota. Engineering colleges will have a specific cutoff or closing rank for B.Tech admissions under state quota.

All-India Quota (AIQ) B.Tech Admissions: 15% of B Tech seats in engineering colleges across Punjab apply to the all-India Quota. For these seats, you must take part in the centralized counselling process conducted by I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University. Engineering colleges will have a specific closing rank or cutoff for B.Tech admissions in Punjab through the all-India quota.

Punjab B Tech Counselling and Seat Allotment Process 2025

I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University conducts the Centralised Admission/ Counselling Process for B Tech courses in Punjab. The counselling process involves different stages, and all the details are elaborated on below.

Online Fee Deposition for Counselling Process: To participate in the Centralised Online Counselling for B Tech admission in Punjab, you have to pay Rs. 2,000 as a counselling fee. The counselling fee of Rs. 2,000 applies to Rounds 1 & 2. Follow the steps below to pay the counselling fee for Punjab B Tech admissions –

  • Visit the official website, i.e., Punjab Technical University (PTU) admissions
  • On the official website, click on the button that indicates ‘Pay Online Counselling Fee’
  • A registration form will be displayed on a new page
  • Select the Stream (Engineering/ B.Tech – 10+2 Basis)
  • Enter your Class 12 Roll Number
  • Enter your Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, E-Mail ID, Roll Number and Verification Code
  • After entering the above details, click on the button that indicates ‘Submit’
  • You will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on their mobile number
  • Enter the OTP and click on the ‘Proceed’ button
  • You will be directed to the counselling fee payment section now
  • The payment can be done by using a Credit Card or Debit Card or Internet Banking
  • You will receive a confirmation message on their mobile or e-mail after the fee payment
  • After fee payment, you must take the printout of the fee receipt

Online Registration for Counselling Process:

Those who will deposit the counselling fee of Rs. 2,000 are only eligible to register for the counselling process. Follow the steps below to register for Centralised Online Counselling for Punjab B Tech admissions –

New Registration: -

  1. Visit the official website, i.e., Punjab Technical University (PTU) admissions
  2. On the official website, click on the button that indicates ‘Apply for B Tech’ to take part in centralized online counselling
  3. A new page will flash on the screen
  4. Select ‘B. Tech & B.Tech Fee Waiver – 10+2 Basis’ option from the drop-down menu
  5. After selecting the stream or course, click on the button ‘Go’ followed by the ‘Proceed’ button on the subsequent page for ‘New Registration’
  6. The New Registration Form will be displayed on the screen
  7. Fill in the details in the new registration form such as Class 12 Roll Number, student Name, Date of Birth, and Green Number
  8. After entering the above details, click on the button ‘Submit’

Main Registration: -

  • After New Registration, the Main Registration Form will be displayed on the screen
  • Select the eligibility criteria carefully. If you are a resident of Punjab as per eligibility criteria, select Punjab State 85% Quota for student of Punjab
  • Non-Punjab residents must select ‘All India Category’
  • Select Gender – Male/ Female
  • Select your Main Category (Caste)
  • Select your preference for Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme – Yes/ No
  • Select Rural/ Urban Status. If students wish to keep Rural Area as his/ her main category for IKGPTU, then he/she should select the main category as General and under Rural/Urban status
  • To avail Sikh Minority Benefit, the students must select Sikh Minority Status
  • Enter the qualifying marks or percentage of Class 12
  • Enter the Annual Income of the Family
  • Finally, enter the Login ID and Password (which should be created by the student)
  • After entering all the above details, click on the button ‘Submit’
  • A login page will be displayed on the screen
  • Enter the Login ID and Password to take the printout of the main registration form.
  • Preserve the printout of the main registration form for future reference

Online Choice Filling:

The next stage in the centralized online counselling process is ‘Online Choice Filling’. Follow the steps below for online choice filling –

  • Before filling in the choices, it is advisable to check the closing ranks of participating institutes. The list will be available on the official website.
  • After checking the closing ranks, click on the Student Login tab.
  • The list of colleges and courses will be displayed on the screen now.
  • You can select the colleges and courses by clicking on the ‘+’ button.
  • You are free to choose a maximum number of choices, as there is no limit on the number of choices to be chosen by the students.
  • After filling the choices, it is advisable to check once
  • Finally, click on the ‘Save and Exit’ option to save the filled choices
  • Your choices will be displayed on the screen now.
  • Logout from the official website
  • Only those who take part in the online choice filling will be considered for the seat allotment process.

Seat Allotment Results:

You are informed through SMS regarding your seat allotment status. The seat allotment results are released on the official website, and you must log in to download the seat allotment letter. Take the printout of the seat allotment letter and proceed to the allotted college for reporting, first-year B.Tech fee payment, and seat confirmation.

If you do not get a seat in the first round, you can wait for the second round. You can also upgrade the seat after the first round (if necessary).

After taking the printout of the seat allotment letter, you must report to the allotted college with original and Xerox copies of certificates. After certificate verification at the allotted college, you must pay the first-year B.Tech fee within the specified date to confirm admission. You must note that you should only submit Xerox copies of original documents or certificates.

The counselling and seat allotment procedure ends with reporting. The colleges will inform you about the date for the commencement of classes.

Important Instructions for the Punjab B.Tech Counselling Process for Round 1 & 2

Here are some important instructions for you that have been released along with the schedule. Check out these instructions here.

  • You have to pay a counselling fee of Rs 2000 to take part in the centralized counselling process & the fee is non-refundable. Those who have already paid the pre-registration fees will also be required to deposit the counselling fees. The fees that have been deposited during the pre-registration and registration will be adjusted in the semester fees at the time of admission.
  • Seats under the Tuition Fees Waiver scheme are available under B.Tech & B.Pharmacy courses only for residents from Punjab having an annual income of less than 8 Lacs.
  • Post-matric scholarship scheme is available as per the Punjab Government norms.
  • It is important for you to carry all the documents at the time of reporting or admissions. Else, the provisionally allocated seats will be cancelled and you will have no further right to claim the seat.
  • The confirmed seat can be withdrawn within 7 days from the last date of reporting of the last round of counselling.
  • After the completion of both rounds of counselling, the admission will be done at the campus & college level.

Punjab B.Tech Counselling 2025 Document Verification

Once those who have uploaded the required documents, the same will be verified by the concerned authority. After the provisional online verification of the uploaded documents, the link to upload the admission fee slip will be activated in the student login. The student will have to submit the applicable semester fee in the bank account of the college (as details mentioned in the allotment letter) via online mode and upload the admission fee slip (record of transaction of Fee payment) from their login. After the verification of the admission fee slip by the allotted institute, the seat will be confirmed provisionally.

You must keep in mind that the provisional verification and provisional confirmation of the allotted seat have to be done within the prescribed period. In case a student does not report or the allotted seat is not confirmed within the prescribed period, then the allotted seats will be cancelled and you will not have any right to claim the seats. Hence, it is in the interest of the students to report at the earliest to the allotted institute.

Documents Required for B Tech Admission in Punjab

You must carry the following original and Xerox copies of certificates/ documents at the time of reporting –

  • Class 12 Certificate
  • Class 10 Certificate
  • Residence/ Domicile Certificate
  • Category Certificate (If required)
  • Income Certificate (only for TFW students)
  • Seat Allotment Letter

You must note that they should not submit the original documents/ certificates to the college, and you must make sure that the college returns the original certificates after verification.

Punjab B.Tech 2025 Counselling Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme

Those who are from  the Punjab State, whose parents’ annual family income from all sources is less than INR 8 lakhs can opt for the Tuition Fee Waiver scheme. They are required to produce the income certificate (of the current year) at the time of admission. You must note that the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme is applicable under IKGPTU & MRSPTU for Punjab Residents only. The Tuition Fee Waiver seats are very limited (5% of intake) and issued as per the guidelines of AICTE/PCI/Punjab Government subject to the availability of seats and merit of the student.

While opting for the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme, you must ensure to select branch(es) with “TFW” during choice filling along with the normal branch(es). They must also arrange the filled choice(s) in the preference order and keep the selected TFW Branch(es) on the top preference. Those admitted under the Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme will not be permitted to change the institution or course under any circumstances.
