Departments of Economics and Commerce, Vidyasagar Evening College organised state level seminar on “Consumer Protection and Fair Business Practices: A Way of Social Justice” on 9 th January, 2016; from 10:30 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

The worldwide expansion of Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization (LPG) policies in development programmes have modified tastes, preferences, choices, aspirations, the orientation to life and finally the way of living in the society, faster than had been anticipated. The Indian economy with all its states is directly affected by the central macroeconomic conditions or decisions of the country and the central policies continue to have significant effect/s on the social situation as well as on the basic amenities of human life in all the states. The probabilities of being victims of improper and indecent choice/s for the consumer and deceptive behavior of the enterprises in daily-life have also increased manifold.
This Seminar was primarily intended to be an occasion for searching a way of salvation for the Indian consumer by educating him/her on Consumer Protection to pave the way for a better future.
