Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) is an entrance exam for admission to bachelor engineering courses in Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India. Vellore Institute of Technology is one of the top privately run engineering institutes in India. VIT University Vellore Campus offers admissions to 1the5 engineering branches, whereas its Chennai campus offers admissions to five programmes. Nearly two lakh aspirants write this coveted entrance exam which is held in a 12 day window- April 6 to 17, 2016. The entrance exam is conducted in a total of three sessions every day. Nearly 5000 seats are there in its BTech courses in two campuses. It is an online test is being conducted at different centres across India, Dubai and Kuwait. The result of the exam will be declared on April 29. VITEEE 2016 Counselling Phase-1 will be held at VIT Vellore and Chennai campus from May 9 to 12 for the first 20,000 rank holders. While some students felt that the online exam was relatively easier than JEE MAINs, some had a different opinion. Majority felt that the difficulty level of the exam was moderate- Chemistry was the easiest and most of them had maximum expectation from it- but Mathematics was very tough. The exam is reported to be hassle free so far.

Candidates were given two and half hours to complete the online test. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.

The questions were reported to be mostly from class XI-XII syllabus of various State Boards as well as the CBSE.

VITEEE 2016 Analysis:

The examination has four parts viz, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics /biology & English.

So far the VITEEE 2016 physics paper has been a mix of moderate to difficult questions. Most of the questions have been coming from across different chapters of class XI & XII. Some of the questions are application based while some direct. A safe attempt should be 22-25 questions. Chemistry section is quite easy to moderate. Most of the questions have been coming from across different chapters of class XI & XII. Here also some of the questions are application based while some direct. A safe attempt should be 25-27 questions. The section has been also moderate. Those who could do a decent time management could attempt about 25questions. VITEE also has a section on English which is a quite easy section. The questions are mostly from Comprehension, English Grammar and vocabulary. Score maximization can be done in this section.
Anyone who had a thorough practice of class XI-XII syllabus and a decent speed would be able to score upward of 70-75 which should be a good score. As negative marking is not there, students it has been a free for all race to attempt all 125 questions.VIT University doesn't announce any cutoff marks for admissions to BTech courses at any of its two campuses - Chennai and Vellore. The closing rank for different branches for which VITEEE 2016 Counselling is conducted in different phases can be considered as cut off. That way VITEEE 2016 cut off should be similar to that of the last year. The top 1 to 20,000 candidates are called for counselling on different days in the phase-I of counselling. In 3 phase counselling process of VIT University, the closing rank for a particular branch may come from even 20,001 to 99,999 rank holders.
