Concordia University was established in 1974. It was followed by the union of two main universities, Sir George Williams University and Loyola College. Concordia University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The university is counted best among top universities and institutes in Quebec and in Canada. The university was awarded the rank #34 in Regional Universities West category by the survey reports of US News, 2020. It was also recognized in Young University Rankings, 2019 who honored the institute among 101-150th universities in the World.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Concordia University has two campuses, Loyola Campus and Sir George Williams Campus. Sir George Williams is considered the main campus. The university is distinguished by its four faculties, a graduate school along with numerous centres, colleges and institutes. 

With over 100 graduate and 300 undergraduate programs and courses, it aims to provide innumerable options for students seeking meaningful career opportunities. John Molson School of Business of Concordia University has been consistently rated within the periphery of the top 10 business schools of Canada.

Moreover, there is an undergraduate student union, Concordia Student Union whose members comprise over 33,000 of the total students. The research unit of Concordia University provides teaching in diverse areas such as Human Rights, Digital Arts and Synthetic Biology. While it’s popular majors in MBA, Marketing Engineering and Economics are compared to some of the Ivy League courses; its Masters (MS) in Computer Science has observed a growth of nearly 400% and is quickly becoming the choice of the hour. 

Accomplishments & Alumni 

Concordia University researchers are responding rapidly to the COVID-19 emergency. Also, Concordia’s Centre for the Study of Learning and Performance (CSLP) will receive $1.8 million from the Government of Quebec over the next seven years. The funds have been awarded by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC), one of the most reputable research funding institutions in the province. 

With 215,000 alumni working worldwide, the university allows other students to choose and follow their careers. The alumni have made their name in many prestigious organizations just as the former governor-general, George Vanier, and the philosopher Keith Heron. Other notable alumni are Feras Antoon, Anna Hopkins, Annie Murphy, Tayshia Adams and so on.

The enrolment of 46,093 students in the scholastic year 2017-2018 places this university among the famous universities in Canada. The international student’s percentage at Concordia is about 20.6% which proves that the university welcomes diversity. Another important fact to be highlighted is that, out of all the international students coming to Concordia, the majority that is 22.1% is from India.
