Lakeland College is located in Alberta, Canada, and is a post-secondary college, which was established in 1911. The college is one of the largest colleges in North America. Here students started working on the farm to attain farming skills. Since 1913 the names changed various times from Vermilion School of Agriculture, Vermilion Agricultural and Vocational College in 1960, Vermilion College, and finally to Lakeland College in 1975. It is affiliated with ACCC, CCAA, AACTI, and CBIE. The college ranked 117-153 as one of the best colleges in Canada.
Infrastructure, Campus & Courses
The college has two campuses namely Vermilion and Lloydminster. Vermilion campus is the home campus and Lloydminster campus started in 1990. The campuses have an aquatic center, libraries, theatres, Alumni hall, food courts, basketball, curling, volleyball, soccer, athletic conference, and so on. On top, there are 5 research buildings established specifically for research.
The courses which are now available are one-year certificate programs, two-year diploma programs, double majors, Degree programs, online courses, and many more. The most sought after courses are Agricultural Sciences, Business, Environmental Sciences, Fire and Emergency services, Human Services, and Energy Petroleum Technology to name a few. There are three courses offered in french also.
Accomplishments & Alumni
The various achievements of the college are that it has received awards on the supply of good quality milk provided by the college from 2015 till 2018, Academic Excellence, Alberta Athletic Awards, and more. Overall 1,013 recipients received awards, bursaries, and scholarships.
Famous alumni are Rick Fraser is a Canadian Politician, Jill Shumay a Canadian Curler, and Doug Cherry who is a Canadian Politician.
Student Diversity & Visiting Companies
The Lakeland college is a public college that supports diversity to a greater extent where learning is provided to national and international students who have plenty of thoughts and perspectives to exchange. The college has approximately a balanced population with 854 boys and 1144 girls.
The student employment center helps the enrolled students to get in touch with the employers. The employment is based on the classroom presentation, resume, mock interviews, online posting of jobs, events, and career fairs. Top hirers include Sarah Bush Lincoln, Walmart, ADM, and Patterson Companies, Inc.
