The Memorial University of Newfoundland was founded in 1925 as a memorial to the Newfoundlanders who lost their lives in the First World War and subsequent conflicts. The memorial was founded to honour their sacrifices through imparting education to the people of the province. Since then, Memorial University Canada has grown consistently and today it offers a wide range of courses to students from across the world. Every year, MUN enrolls more than 19,000 students at the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes from around 115 countries, that accounts for 20% of the students at Memorial University of Newfoundland as international students. Memorial University encourages entrepreneurship which can be proved by the 9 consistent wins over 10 years, in the annual competitions of Enactus, an international non-profit organisation that promotes student entrepreneurship.
