History, Affiliations & Rankings

Ryerson University is a Public Research University in Toronto, Ontario. Earlier it was Ryerson Institute of Technology from 1948- 1966, and then its name changed to Ryerson Polytechnical Institute from 1966 to 1993 and changed to Ryerson Polytechnical University from 1993 to 2001. Ryerson University has Affiliations from AACSB, AUCC, ACU, U SPORTS, COU, IAU, OUA. QS Global World Ranking of Ryerson University is 801-1000. Ryerson is placed 12th in the Publications “Comprehensive University” category in Maclean’s 2020 University Ranking. In Maclean’s Reputation Ranking 2022, Ryerson is ranked 20th in Canada and the 2022 QS World University Rankings ranked the university 801–1000 globally.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Ryerson University Main campus has 121 acres of land and it offers undergraduate, graduate and Doctoral courses in Science, Business, Management, Engineering, Fashion, Mathematics, Social Science, Arts, Journalism, Mathematics, Nursing, Philosophy. Ryerson University students can use more than 25 group fitness classes, including yoga, Zumba, etc. Apart from these facilities for sports like Basketball, Badminton, Tennis, Table Tennis, Soccer, Football, Volleyball, Swimming, are also available. The university has its own Radio Station and a Newspaper these are operated by students.

Accomplishments & Alumni

Dr Atty Mashatan of the University was among the top 19 Canada’s Tech Titan, Research Grant Awarded to Researcher from the University to examine how COVID-19 related misinformation propagates. Notable Alumni of Ryerson University include Brad Abraham (screenwriter of RoboCop), Barry Avrich (film director, producer), Kristin Booth (actress), Rich Brace (President of CTV), Raina Douris (Radio Personality), Natalie Glebova (Miss Universe 2005), Gail Kim (Professional wrestler). Among Ryerson's many accomplishments, one is its recently-launched joint programs with Osgoode Hall Law School and St. Michael's Hospital.

University has more than 3% of international students in its undergraduate courses and nearly 10% of international students in its graduate courses. The university has nearly 45,000 undergraduate students and nearly 3,000 students in Graduate courses. Top companies like Safariland, Niagara Bottling, Cardenas Market, DPI Speciality Foods, Mag Instruments recruit students from Ryerson University every year and offer them very good packages.
