The University of Winnipeg, a public research university, was established in 1938. It was formed as a merger between Manitoba College and Wesley College. The name given after the merge is United College and later on, adopted the name University of Winnipeg.

The University of Winnipeg holds accreditation by the Department of Education and Training, Manitoba. It holds various affiliations like the International Association of Universities, Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board of Engineers Canada and Canada's Association of Information Technology Professionals, etc.

The University of Winnipeg is ranked as 13 institutions in Canada for undergraduate studies. The Macleans magazine has rated it as top 15 for student satisfaction. It is ranked as a top 500 institution in the world according to THE Rankings.

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

The University of Winnipeg has various campuses including Buhler Centre and Ellice Avenue. The colleges the university includes, Menno Simons. Centre for Academic Writing, Institute for Women's and Gender Studies and Centre for Rupert's Land Studies, Global College, College and Richardson College for Environment

Winnipeg offers a unique experience with temperatures as low as -20 C in winters, hot summers with a wide range of activities like snowshoeing, hockey, canoeing, hockey games, a vibrant arts and cultural scene.

University of Winnipeg offers various undergraduate and postgraduate programs in over 50 fields of study. It has 5 faculties offering 3-year and 4-year undergraduate and 12 Masters degree programs. The most popular programs are BBA, Computer Science, Economics, Physics and many more.

Accomplishments & Alumni

The University of Winnipeg Co-operative Education Program works with local, national and international organizations to provide students with a wide variety of job postings. The Co-op Program also hosts a number of networking initiatives on the University of Winnipeg campus. Some of the organizations the university works with are Ubisoft, Royal Bank of Scotland, Scotiabank, City of Winnipeg, Great-West Life, and Cambrian Credit Union to name a few.

The University of Winnipeg enjoys a vast spread network of 100,000 alumni from over 90 countries across the world. Some of the well-known alumni are Danishka Esterhazy, (filmmaker), Ash Koley (pop singer), Devi Sharma (Winnipeg City Councillor), Omar Zakhilwal (Finance Minister, Afghanistan) and many more.

As of 2019, it holds an enrollment of nearly 9,684 students out of which approximately 12% are international students. The university welcomes international students from more than 80 countries.
