Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test was conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU) today (December 18, 2016 between 1400 hours to 1600 hours) across various examination centres in 32 cities in India. The SNAP test was taken by more than 40000 candidates, interested in admissions to MBA programmes in Symbiosis institutes managed by Symbiosis International University.

SNAP is an important management entrance exam for candidates aiming for admissions in any of the 15 Symbiosis B-schools under Symbiosis International University (SIU) for their 2-year full-time flagship MBA programme (2017-19 batch).

2016 SNAP Exam Analysis

SNAP was a pen and paper based objective test with 150 questions. Each question had 4 options. For every wrong answer, 25% marks allotted to it was to be deducted. The difficulty level of SNAP 2016 held today was more or less like SNAP 2015.

Synopsis of SNAP 2016 exam:

  • Analytical and logical reasoning questions, usually most challenging of all sections, were of moderate to high level of difficulty.
  • General Awareness section was also a bit difficult & tricky and comprised mostly economics and business related questions. An attempt anything in the range of 15-18 in this section should be considered good.
  • Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency section was high on the difficulty level.

  • English section was mostly doable and maximum marks should be scored in this section even though there were some tricky questions.

Looking at the previous trends, this is the expected cut-off marks for SNAP 2015:

SNAP 2016 Sectional Analysis


Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency:

This section was high on the difficulty level. A majority of the questions were from Arithmetic, DI, DS, Higher Math, Algebra and Geometry.

An attempt of around 25 questions with 80%+ accuracy should be safe attempt.

Logical Reasoning & Analytical Reasoning:

This section, with a total of 30 questions, was on the tougher side compared to previous years. The topics of the questions were mostly from Mathematical Reasoning, Verbal Analogy, Critical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Visual Reasoning and other areas of Logical Reasoning.

An attempt of around 15 plus questions with 80%+ accuracy should be safe attempt.

General Awareness:

The General Awareness section of SNAP 2016 had 40 questions each, carrying one mark. Though the General Awareness section had questions from various areas, Indian Economics, Current Affairs, and Business Affairs had the maximum number of questions. General Awareness section's difficulty level was high, and most of the questions were challenging in nature.

An attempt of around 15 plus questions with 80%+ accuracy should be safe attempt.

General English Section
The English section was mostly doable and maximum marks should be scored in this section even though there were some tricky questions.

This section comprised questions from Reading Comprehension, Idioms, Vocabulary-based questions like synonyms and antonyms, analogy, spellings, the figure of speech, odd one out), Grammar & Usage (parts of speech + punctuation + prepositions + pronouns), Sentence Correction, Spot the Error etc.

An attempt of around 25 plus questions with 80%+ accuracy should be safe attempt.
