Nanjing Medical University was established in 1934 as National Jiangsu Medical College in the Jiangsu Province of China. Later in 1957, the university was shifted to Nanjing and renamed as Nanjing Medical University. Due to its excellence in higher education for over 85 years, Nanjing Medical University was ranked 3rd Best Medical University in China by ‘Soft Science’, 144th best university in Asia by THE and 601st best University in the world. The university is not only affiliated with the Medical Council of India (MCI) but also the World Health Organisation (WHO). 

Infrastructure, Campus & Courses

Nanjing Medical University is divided into two campuses, namely, Jiangning campus and Wutai campus. Both the campuses have accommodation facilities for international students. The library of Nanjing Medical University was established in 1934 with over 2,000 reading seats distributed in Jiangning campus and Wutai campus. The library currently has over 9,00,000 printed resources, 7,20,000 e-books, 52 databases and over 37,500 full text e-journals. The university was one of the first medical institutions in China to offer a 6-year medical education programme i.e., MBBS. It was also the first university to be authorised to confer master’s and doctoral degrees in the country. 

Accomplishments & Student Diversity

Nanjing Medical University has a total of 23 schools, 16 departments and 23 affiliated hospitals with more than 50 teaching hospitals. Students from all over the world join the university to pursue higher education in the field of medicine. The language of instruction in the university is English, which makes it easier for international students to focus on their studies. The curriculum of the university is backed with a strong faculty that put all the efforts for conducting and planning informative and innovative ideas to implement in their teaching. The university has over 1,470 registered faculty members.
