It gives me a great pleasure to inform you all that I have assumed the charge of DG, National Power Training Institute (NPTI) this morning. It is a great privilege and honour to join an organization like NPTI which is the world's leading Integrated Power Training Institute serving nation over the last 5 decades. It is to bring to your kind notice that the role of National Power Training Institute is very challenging in 21st century, as Govt. of India has decided to step into advance areas of Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution Technologies with deployment of Smart Systems for better efficiency, reliable system operation and best competitive prices to consumers which are one of the main stake holder in new environment. I am sure you all are fully aware with the target of our Hon'ble Prime Minister to put 175GW of renewable energy mix in the existing power network by 2022. This mission mode objective has been speeded up by Hon'ble Shri Piyush Goyal Ji, Power Minister with fullest of energy and dedication at national level without any delay. The efforts are now visible as big deployment of solar power generation in Grid connected mode by encouraging not only Govt. organizations but also all private and public institutions of India. You may be aware that Indian Railway is coming with huge solar power installation on roofs of trains and open areas which might generate the power up to 30GWp. This requires a major trained and skilled manpower both at higher level and technician level as well. NPTI has to play a pioneering role to prepare the manpower not only for existing thermal, hydro, gas based plants but also upcoming renewable energy power development programme in a dedicated manner to achieve the energy independence and grid compatibility with Smart Power control technology. Further, I would like to let you know that I am looking forward to work with you in a very personally involved mode and serve NPTI to the best of my capabilities & with the honest and sincerest of intensions. Over the course of coming months, I wish to meet as many of you as possible to acquaint with important work, you are carrying out and to know how you all have significantly contributed in the field of Training and Human Resources Development.
As we jointly have started a new Phase of Journey together, looking into future needs of evolving power sector, the responsibility lies on our shoulders not only to meet the perfect trained/skilled manpower requirements at various levels including skill development in the key areas like power generation, transmission, distribution and renewable energy etc., for our country's projected installed capacity of 685GW by end of 2027.
