SCLC Kolkata BA+LLB Admission

  • The admission to the Bachelor of Laws (B.A.LL.B.) Course is done, following the merit list prepared On the basis of the Entrance Examination conducted by the University of Calcutta.
  • Any person passed H.S. (10+2 level) examination with minimum 45% (40% in case of S.C.; S.T.; and P.H.) marks in aggregate (taking into consideration best of 4 papers excluding WBCHSE Environment Science) will be eligible for admission to the B.A.LL.B. , Course; the person appearing in the (10+2 level) examination will be allowed to sit the Entrance Examination. But their admission to the B.A.LL.B. , Course will be subject to the condition of successful completion of (10+2 level) Examination at the time of Counseling of the admission.
  • The admission of the B.A.LL.B.(Honours) Course from the Sixth Semester is done through merit list considering the marks of (10+2 level) examination and First Semester to Fourth Semester marks together after inviting application by the Secretary, Faculty Council for Post Graduate Studies in Law from time to time.

I dont have any clue of the Calcutta colleges, but I can surely tell you about LPUs LLB program. The Law Department at LPU is one of the first departments that came up when LPU was taking its shape. According to the NIRF ranking, the Law School is ranked 24th. The vision of the school is studying by books is not a rule of Law. The course aims at preparing the students with an interest to pursue legal education with social sciences to benefit society. Creation of well-trained and dedicated professionals in the legal framework. It also aims at nurturing a graduate with in-depth knowledge of different aspects of laws comprising civil, criminal, taxation, and international laws and ensuring conceptual clarity for judicial services aspirants. Law students are prepared to spot legal issues from a set of hypothetical facts and brainstorm various legal consequences, to be perfect legal professionals. The courses are approved by the Bar Council of India. The Career guidance magazine Higher Education Review has recognized Law School at Lovely Professional University among the top-ten most promising institutions of India for its capability of producing next-gen legal professionals. Pass with 50% aggregate marks in Graduation (any stream) or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST or LSAT. For a candidate, who has not studied English as a subject, the condition of English may be waived off provided the candidate in his qualifying exam has studied in English medium. For SC ST applicants there is 5 percent relaxation while there is 3 percent relaxation for the OBC candidates. In addition to it, for North East states and Sikkim candidates/ Defence Personnel and their Dependents/ Wards of Kashmir Migrants,) there is 5 percent relaxation. The LPU students were invited by Punjab Police for an internship where they were taught the nuances of investigation. The university has an MOU with NLSIU Bangalore for various academic programs. The admission process of the University of Calcutta (CU) has been postponed for the academic year 2020-21 due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic in the country. CU has also decided that it will not conduct the entrance exam this year for shortlisting candidates for its various programmes. The admission to law programmes at CU, including the integrated law course of BA LLB, will be done on the basis of merit.

The application process of Calcutta University for 2020 had been extended till August 14, 2020. The merit list is declared a few weeks after the applications are closed. Hence, the merit list of Calcutta University for South Calcutta Law College admissions for the academic session 2020-21 is expected to be out soon.
