Among private engineering colleges in the Delhi NCR belt, Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad, consistently fills CSE seats earlier than most AKTU-affiliated private colleges in the region. In UPTAC 2025, CSE at AKGEC closed at rank 1,53,037 in Round 4. CSE with AI and ML specialisation closed at 1,76,840. Data Science at 2,06,129. All 3 filled before Round 6, meaning students who delayed adding AKGEC to their choice list missed out.

UPTAC 2026 choice filling is live right now. Students at JEE Main ranks between 1,20,000 and 3,50,000 who want a CSE or IT seat at a recognised private college in the Ghaziabad-Delhi NCR belt need to evaluate AKGEC seriously.

AKGEC Ghaziabad Branch-Wise UPTAC 2025 Closing Rank

AKGEC is a private aided college, and UPTAC fills all seats through counselling. There is no separate government or management quota in UPTAC. Some branches, such as EEE, Civil, Mechanical, and CS Hindi, show very high Round 6 closing ranks because of vacant seats. Do not use these late-round ranks as the expected cutoff for admission planning. Below are the JEE Main ranks for the General/UR students.

How to Fill AKGEC Ghaziabad in UPTAC 2026 Choice Filling?

Complete document verification on the UPTAC portal first. Choice filling opens only after verification is approved. Steps at uptac.admissions.nic.in:

Step 1: Log in
Use the UPTAC 2026 registration number and password at uptac.admissions.nic.in. The choice filling tab activates after document verification is approved. Students get an SMS and email confirmation on approval.

Step 2: Search for AKGEC
In the institute search panel, type "Ajay Kumar Garg" or "AKGEC" or "Ghaziabad". The full name on the portal is Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College, Ghaziabad. All available branches appear once the college is selected.

Step 3: Add branches in order of preference
Add AKGEC branches in this order based on career value:

PriorityBranch to add
1stB.Tech Computer Science and Engineering
2ndB.Tech CSE (Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning)
3rdB.Tech CSE (Data Science)
4thB.Tech Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
5thB.Tech Computer Science
6thB.Tech Computer Science Information Technology
7thB.Tech Information Technology
8thB.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering
9thB.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering
10thB.Tech Mechanical / Civil (only if targeting PSU via GATE)

Add every branch within reach — there is no limit on choices. A student at rank 2,00,000 should still add CSE at Position 1; if it converts in later rounds due to vacancies, that is the best possible outcome.

Step 4: Position AKGEC against other colleges
A sample ordering for a student at rank 1,80,000:

PositionChoice
1–3Government colleges in range (KNIT Sultanpur IT / Electronics)
4AKGEC — CSE
5AKGEC — CSE AI/ML
6AKGEC — CSE Data Science
7 onwardsOther private colleges in order of preference

Step 5: Save, review, then lock
Save choices after each change. Review the full order before the deadline. Lock before the window closes — unlocked choices are not processed for allotment. Print the locked choice list for records.

After allotment:

  • Freeze: accept the seat, exit further rounds
  • Float: retain the seat but participate in the next round for a higher preference
  • Withdraw: exit the process entirely

Seat acceptance fee is INR 2,000 (General/OBC/EWS), INR 1,200 (SC/ST), paid at the time of exercising Freeze or Float.

Which Branch Should You Fill First at AKGEC in UPTAC 2026?

AKGEC is a private college, which means it accepts a noticeably higher JEE Main rank to get in compared to government colleges like KNIT Sultanpur. Students should prioritise all government colleges during counselling, then keep AKGEC as a strong private backup. Skipping AKGEC altogether may leave you with lower-ranked private college options and fewer admission opportunities. Rank-based action guide for UPTAC 2026:

JEE Main rankRecommended action at AKGEC
Below 1,20,000AKGEC CSE is safe — but check KNIT Sultanpur, MMMUT, and HBTU first as government alternatives
1,20,000–1,55,000Fill AKGEC CSE as your top private college preference
1,55,000–1,80,000Fill AKGEC CSE as a stretch, then CSE AI/ML immediately below it
1,80,000–2,10,000CSE and AI/ML may be borderline — fill CSE DS and standalone AI/ML
2,10,000–2,60,000Fill AKGEC Computer Science (core) and CS IT in this range
2,60,000–3,40,000AKGEC IT is the realistic target — fill it above ECE
3,40,000–5,20,000AKGEC ECE range — seats available into later rounds
Above 5,20,000AKGEC EEE, Mechanical, Civil show high numbers in later rounds but few students choose these here — explore other private colleges with better core engineering placements

The core rule for private college choice filling: Always place the better-ranked government college above AKGEC, and always place AKGEC above weaker private colleges. Never leave AKGEC out of the list if the rank is in range — it costs nothing to add it and could secure a seat if government options do not convert.

FAQs

Based on UPTAC 2025 data where CSE closed at 1,53,037 in Round 4, the expected 2026 closing rank for CSE at AKGEC is approximately 1,35,000–1,60,000. This is an estimate — actual 2026 cutoffs will be declared after UPTAC 2026 Round 1 allotment. The range can shift by 5–10% depending on JEE Main 2026 difficulty and total UPTAC applicants.

AKGEC is an AKTU-affiliated private aided college in Ghaziabad with reasonable placement outcomes for CSE graduates. Companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and Cognizant visit campus. It is considered one of the better AKTU-affiliated private colleges in the Delhi NCR region. For students who do not secure a government college seat, AKGEC CSE is a solid option at the 1.5–2 lakh JEE Main rank band.

IT at AKGEC closed at 3,36,530 in Round 4 of UPTAC 2025 but had seats available in Round 6 (2,82,380) and Round 7 (2,70,347). The lower R6 and R7 ranks indicate some students who were allotted IT in earlier rounds withdrew, allowing students with lower ranks to fill the vacancies. For 2026, the expected IT closing rank is approximately 3,15,000–3,55,000 by Round 4, with seats potentially available in later rounds for students in the 2,70,000–3,00,000 range.

Always prefer a government college for the same or a comparable branch. Government colleges have lower fees (often INR 15,000–70,000/year vs AKGEC's INR 1,11,256/year), better brand recognition for PSU and government recruitment, and the same AKTU affiliation. However, if no government college offers CSE or IT at your rank, AKGEC CSE is preferable to taking Mechanical or Civil at a government college. Branch matters more than government vs private when the gap is this wide.

Based on 2025 cutoff, CSE at AKGEC closed at 1,53,037 in Round 4. A rank of 1,60,000 was just beyond the Round 4 cutoff in 2025 and would not have converted unless CSE vacancies appeared in later rounds — which they did not for 2025. For 2026, 1,60,000 is borderline: fill CSE as a stretch preference and add CSE AI/ML and CSE DS immediately below it as more realistic targets.
