Apparel Training and Design Centre - ATDC
Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC), under the aegis of AEPC has emerged as India’s Largest Vocational Training Network for the Apparel Sector with around 175 ATDCs including 65 ATDC Vocational Institutes and over 135 ATDC- SMART Centres and Skill Camps present in major Apparel clusters spread across 22 states & 85 cities Pan India. The Apparel Training & Design Centre (ATDC) was registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act 1860 on February 15, 1991 at New Delhi with the mission to upgrade the technical skills of the human resources employed in the Garment Industry. ATDC is Indian Apparel Sector’s preferred source for skilled shop floor workforce and different tiers of professional in profiles such as * Sewing Machine Operator * Pattern Engineer *Machine Technicians/ Mechanics, * Surface Ornamentation Specialists * Apparel Production Supervisors * Quality Controllers * Industrial Engineers, etc. ATDC has already trained 1, 73,241 Trainees (1996-March,2015) has transformed lives by providing gainful employment to youth, women & disadvantaged sections of the society and in particular over the pilot project period of ISDS, MOT, GOI since October 2010 (till Dec 2013) above 1,00,000 candidates have been enrolled and over 75% have been placed in the apparel industry with 45% in large & SME and also 25-30% in domestic industry units /self-help group and the rest for self-employment. ATDCs has emerged as the largest Vocational Training Provider with a leading position in the vocational education space being a nodal agency under component-1 for implementing Integrated Skill Development Scheme (ISDS) of Ministry of Textiles, GOI in 2010 where ATDC took the ambitious target of training 1, 72,220 candidates in five years under SMART project and has successfully trained 1, 52,138 candidates through 176 ATDC Centres pan-India till March 2015. ATDC has also established 65 Vocational Institutes as “VTPs” aligned to the Skill Development Initiative (SDI) Scheme of National Council of Vocational Training, DGE&T, 30 SKP’s aligned to AICTE’s NSQF (National Skill Qualification Framework) and collaborated with RGNIYD (Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development) to impart level 5, level 6 & level 7 of NSQF for two B. Voc. Programmes viz. B. Voc in Apparel Manufacturing & Entrepreneurship and B.Voc in Fashion Design & Retail. This makes ATDC the only organization offering shop floor, supervisory and managerial level courses within the education and training eco- system i.e. SMART training for taking care of courses of 1 month to 4 month duration (Skill Level 01-02) and ATDC Vocational Institutes (Skill Level 03-04) for offering MES courses of six months to one year and now offering three year B. Voc courses (Skill Level 05-07) based on the “National Vocational Qualification Framework’ of AICTE. The impact potential of ATDC is outlined in the comprehensive Skill Pyramid Model for the Apparel sector which provides a comprehensive training Eco-system for the apparel sector and has accorded a leadership position to ATDC in the sector. Creation of such a comprehensive training Eco system has accorded a leadership position to ATDC by transforming as India’s largest vocational training provider for the apparel sector and has won 4 prestigious awards- the “ASSOCHAM Award” for Best Institute Innovation 2015, ATDC Ranchi being Awarded “Educational Excellence Award 2014.” by ASSOCHAM, Best Vocational Institute 2014 by Assocham and the UK-India Skills Forum Award in 2011(in the Government Funded Category) for demonstration of outstanding commitment to the skills agenda by providing employable skills to youth, woman & disadvantaged section of the society.

Apparel Training and Design Centre Placements
ATDC has trained 1,57,731 trainees since 1996 till 2013 and one lakh candidates during the pilot project period under ISDS of MOT,GOI with overall 75% placement in wage and self-employment ( 45% placed in Apparel Export Units ( large & SMEs) and rest 30% in domestic garments units, self-help groups through NGOs etc.) After successful completion of the course, all possible assistance is provided to the students for suitable placement in the Apparel Industry. The training centres regularly conduct placement workshops to prepare students to face job interviews & aptitude tests. Students are taught skills such as resume writing, presentation skills and time management in these workshops so that they become completely industry-ready by the time they complete their course. The Placement Cell at ATDC National Head Office plays a pivotal role between the industry and the student community through meaningful interaction to bring awareness to the faculty and the students and prepare them according to the changing demands of the industry. It is also responsible for identifying the right candidate for the organization by inviting reputed companies from both export and domestic sector by organizing Rozgar Melas and placement drives to conduct campus interviews for recruitment of students and thus providing a constructive feedback. ATDC network has a strong linkage with key Apparel Manufacturers and Exporters through AEPC’s Apparel Industry Members over 8000 registered manufacturers. The Key to the success of ATDC Skill Development initiative has been gainful employment of trained candidates and mobilization of candidates through motivational workshops, awareness camps and State Govt. & Industry Bhagidari.
At ATDC the students are endowed with modern infra and convenient amenities that make their life go easy in college hours, alongside make learning more interesting.
